Blue & Gold Until I'm Dead & Cold
Any of us still around here? Surprised to not see a thread already for those of us homeless teams.

First look at the Nanooks this year against Vancouver Island and they looked good. Sure, its a club team but I don't think the team overlooked their opponent and the flow was solid all game.

For a 8-1 victory exhibition victory, it was not without excitement, first fire evacuation at a sporting event for me. Biggest question mark for the UAF will be in net. Looking forward to the Nanook tradition of strong goaltending.

I plan on giving out a weekly recap and awards for the independent teams this season, along with team rankings. I will include Augustana this year since they are not eligible for the CCHA playoffs and they play ten games against us independents.
Hoping to release my preseason rankings and all Independent team tonight.

Thanks for starting this thread!
The Alaska teams had a great start!
ASU plays the University of Arizona club team on Friday, hopefully that will generate enough interest with the Tucson supporters to start a D1 team there.

I am still here. Nice to see Lindenwood get a W last night at Air Force. Played really well but gave up the lead with 1 second left to break my heart. Rebounded to get the W in OT though to unbreak it. LOL. Looking forward to the season. They should be a little better but man they play a rough schedule.

I hope the 16 - 0 drubbing of the Arizona club team awakens some alumni to finance their move to D1, to get even. But it probably would have better odds if the score was turned around.......a huge win would get more $$$$ ?

Was glad the UAA / Air Force game was on youtube tonight. UAA looked pretty impressive ... pesky and determined. Jared Whale was solid in net. Glad to see them 3-2-0 so early into the season. Hope to make it to a game one of these days, if I can get tickets!

Suze, WillH here from old sec 213! I haven't been on this forum for awhile but glad to see your post on the game last night. I need to check out watching UAA on YouTube. Hard following UAA from TX. From what I've read the guys are doing ok. Hope they can keep it up. Hope you guys are well. Will & Dori

Hi Will! I didn't know you were in Texas. Our daughter, s-i-l and 3 granddaughters moved to San Antonio a year and a half ago. We go down for a month or more in December / January. Hope you are both well!

Bamber is right, they have that dog. Gonna be some growing pains learning to consistently close out games, but I'm glad to be complaining about that here in year 2.

Will be an interesting year. Alaska should be very tough again this season returning most of their squad from last year. Goaltending is the question mark though, but Michigan St transfer Pierse Charleson has been very solid the last four games (against ranked Michigan Tech and St Cloud). Nanooks went an impressive 2-1-1 in that stretch, with all games on the road. Await UAA on Nov 3/4 for first two games of the Governors Cup series.
