Correction: David Martinson (GUS), 5-1-6

Now, for the controversial part of this process...

Eliminated from the Poll:

Casey Terreri (SAL) - As stated in the nominations thread, 2 goals over 3 games is astoundingly unimpressive. Yes, he got an OT game-winner in their last game, but that was also the only game his name appeared on the box score, except as a member of the lineup. He has potential, but he'll have to do a little better.

Notes: I would have removed Zach Menard (SKD), but it was pointed out in the nominations thread that it is very difficult for a defenseman to get recognition in this largely stat-based process. As this is the first week, the rules are still open for change. I think it a good idea if we try our best to include at least one defenseman in the poll each week, although certainly not at the expense of a deserving forward or goalie.

Just a thought, next week could you tell us what team the players put up the numbers against? That could play a factor in who gets my choice.

No Problem!

Martinson: home-and-home vs. Bethel, the 4-goal was at home.
Satim: @Buffalo State, @Fredonia
Laganeire: home vs. Morrisville
Dahlinger: home vs. Lake Forest
Menard: home vs. NEC, vs. St. Anselm's
Vesprini: @ Hamilton, @ Amherst, the Shutout was @ Amherst
Tuttle: 2 games @ Hobart

Martinson caught up quick... he was at 0 for the longest time.

Correction, Martinson also had a goal and an assist (3 - 1 victory) on Saturday night to go along with his four goals Friday night for a total of 6 points (5 goals, 1 assist).

A little campaigning... it's great to see Martinson and Vesprini are within striking distance considering Gustavus and Trinity are not represented on this forum as strongly as other schools.

With most candidates, it was a case of a team overpowering another team as opposed to an individual "player" (player of the week) overpowering another team, or teams, in Vesprini's case. If your team's rival comes to town for the weekend and someone puts up 6 pts. or completely shuts them down, who's the man? But Morrisville? Lake Forest?

And is it safe to say Platty had themselves a point party this weekend?
