Re: Hot Wheels

Apparently Anderson Cooper has an even gayer British cousin.

If we redo the Dead Pool, I'm taking this guy. :(

Andy Greene is a really nice guy- I met him when HBC Diesel group was setting a land speed record for diesel powered streamliners at Bonneville

I've heard the are planning to run this on a dry lake bed way out in the middle of nowhere, Austrailia. Not enough spae for the Salt Flats, and the ground is better down under than the dry lake bed where they broke the sound barrier.

Oh, and if you are interested in challenging him, Craig Beedlove's land speed record car is up for sale. It was designed to go 900 mph, but a 50mph cross wind tipped it over, and the team ran out of money.

I wish them luck, but know that this is REALLY hard to do.

Re: Hot Wheels

The best part of the video, and any BBC any, is that the volume goes to 11. Spinal Tap Awesomeness.

It's actually going to happen on a dried-up lake bed in Northern Cape Province, South Africa, known as Hakskeen Pan.

The organizers are looking for help, too! :D

With the assistance of the Northern Cape government, work has just started to prepare the track. A team of 300 local people has begun sweeping an area 20km x 1.5km, picking up any stones in their path.

Mr Noble has placed a light-hearted advert in Monday's London Times newspaper calling on UK volunteers to go out to the Northern Cape to join in the back-breaking effort.

It promises: "No wages, constant heat, tough work in beautiful but remote Hakskeen Pan… Scorpions may be present. Inspiring next generation of engineers the reward."
