Hockey East

Congrats to UConn on their first Championship. They really were the best all around team all season long. Their coach has done a great job building that program to what it is now.

What about the rest of Hockey East? Where's this conference going now that the Northeastern dynasty appears to be over? Seems to be wide open with no dominant team. Does UConn hold the top spot with Chan returning? Saw a lot of upsets this year signaling the gaps have closed between the recent conference leaders and the rest.

Is there a lack of offensive talent in the conference, great defense, or combo?

8-34 vs ECAC and WCHA is discouraging. The gap between those 2 conferences and HE is widening. HE closer to CHA and NEWHA right now it seems.

Ohio State fan here. Congratulations to Connecticut on a great season. I’m looking forward to Connecticut coming to Columbus this week. I will be at the rink Thursday to watch Connecticut vs Minnesota Duluth. It will be nice to see a different team. Good luck

Ditto!
Good to see a new team and new faces in our barn.

Even though they lost at Minnesota back in January UConn didn't look out of place compared to some other HE teams who play the top tier WCHA or ECAC teams. Hoping they have a great experience and can get the first game. Ohio State would be a tall task in their rink but with Chan in net they will have a chance to compete.

Ohio State has already beat Duluth 5 times this season so the chance of playing UConn would be a fun change of pace. I'll warn you we only have one loss this season in our barn and that's the game our coach missed for personal reasons. I've got my tickets for Thursday's game and can't wait! I'll apologize in advance for us having the worse video feed in the WCHA.

That's true. The problem for UConn is that they got sent to the home of the team that visited Ridder a week later in January and made the Gophers look out of place. I expect that the Huskies will give a good account of themselves, but I wouldn't want to be the team that has to play a Buckeye team that had a week to think about the WCHA final.

the only chance either team has vs the Buckeyes would be them being so focused on the Badger Hunt they're planning they get caught looking ahead. No disrespect towards UMD UConn there.

I didn't watch the highlights of Northeastern @ UConn until today. Was anyone else surprised at the non-call that proceeded the game's only goal? I understand the mindset of "let them play", especially in OT, but this was one of those times where everyone in the rink goes, "Ooohhh!" as the play happens. If I'm a UConn fan (full disclosure, I was hoping that they'd be the winning Huskies) and I see that play, I'm thinking, "I hope it's only two minutes."

I think most everyone would agree with you and ref was right there. Refs let A LOT go both ways trying to stay out of the way and did a good job for the most part. NU took 2 penalties at once and had to kill a full 2 min 5 on 3. Rare refs do that. NU defender got 5 and a game for cross check to head while the 5 on 3 was winding down. Easy call for refs. Uconn got only penalty in OT so refs likely didn't want to make it 2-0 vs the home team.

Some of these women’s hockey players need to give their heads a shake. There’s a bunch of that in the PW, it presents as goonery and this stuff is just injuries waiting to happen, or happening in Kaiser’s case.

The 3 Stars of the UConn/UMD game have now been posted. If you have an interest, check out the post on the Ohio State thread.

I was rooting for UCONN. I guess it says a lot when the 4th place wcha team who struggles to score is for the most part better than the HE champ who also struggles to score. UCONN D also isn't very good, so it's a bit of the shock to see UMD only put 1 up on them.

I was kind of torn between conference loyalty and the desire to play against a new team. If it weren't for the unbelievable performance of UConn's goaltender it would have been a rout. But as a Buckeye, from my perspective both of Duluth and UConn's seasons are ended here, the only difference is one ends two days sooner than the other.

You are so funny lol. I really can't stop laughing. I really wish there were some UMD fans here who could give you a little pushback lol. All I can say is I sure hope the whole team has the same attitude that you have.

I get a lot of practice picking on the wife. Fortunately for me she doesn't hold a grudge, they did ask her about pulling the plug on me when I was in the ICU on a ventilator.
They probably told her there's no brain activity, she would have said that's normal for him!

This sounds like a movie plot, only the wife says to do it, but the hospital can't find the right form (supply chain for everything was messed up). Our hero regains consciousness and embarks on a campaign to get: a) a women's hockey team in Ohio a new arena; b) his team's uber-successful women's hockey coach to remain in town when a decent program calls; or c) the population around the country to not say "Ohio" when they mean "THE Ohio State University." Having watched all of "Ishtar", "Throw Momma from the Train", and "The Lake House", I don't believe there is a lower limit to what can be the story for a movie script.

I always thought she'd do it with a pillow in my sleep!
She misses her chance with the plug and it would have been legal. LOL!
I can laugh about it but when I really think about the plug pulling it scares the hell out of me!

I don't blame you. Thankfully, you got the positive outcome. Most of us who have a few years on us likely have a few times where it wouldn't have taken much for our lives to take a far less fortunate turn, although yours is closer to that edge than most.
