Help with old reel to reel/cassettes

You guys know the answer to just about everything so why not this? I just got some old family tapes (45 yrs old at least for the r-r) of the family talking and doing things. I also have some old cassettes, one of which I had to gently disengage after it decided to jam in my cassette deck in the car (this was awhile ago). Does anyone know of a place or a way that I can get this onto a disc? The cassette thing is really worrying me because it jammed before. It is one of the only things I have of my grandfather's voice.

Re: Help with old reel to reel/cassettes

If a local college or school has a broadcasting school/course, they might have cassette or reel to reel machines. That might be the best place to start - if they don't have them they might know where you could get access to one.

Good luck.

Thanks. I have the machines but not to get to disk. I am really looking for some sort of business that lets me hand em over and get the finished product back because they are so old.

http://reel2reel2cd.com/ or google transfer reel to reel to cd.

Just talked to this place. Discount right now of 20% and no shipping. Thank you more than I can say! Have been trying to get a place to have stuff done forever.

For anyone else who has been considering-this place doesn't block reproduction, gives little samples of what is on tape, labels the tapes, etc. They also do cassettes and repair them. w00T!
