Has Parity finally come to Women's College Hockey?

My theory, as stated in other threads, is that the extra year of eligibility, along with the loss of RMU, has increased the talent available for the non-power teams and has brought them up to at least middle-of-the-pack. RPI being the prime example here. The top-top have looked to get stronger (Wisco, Minny, OSU) and clearly have separated themselves but everyone else say for a few programs look to be competitive with each other.

Lots of parity this weekend. Providence beating Princeton, UMD vs OSU and Minn v Wisc and St Lawrence tied Clarkson and St Anselm beat Brown just to name a few. Mercy Hurst beat BC and then Syracuse.

there may be a box score somewhere saying Hurst shut out BC (I wish!) but I think the score was a Hurst 4-2 win. Your point still stands.

I have my eye on the Harvard RPI game. RPI won last night, is surely an underdog but I’m hoping they can knock off Harvard today.

Cornell NU is happening too I think, another inter conf matchup to watch.

I think Cornell gets rolled, they seem to be missing something. Their goalie used to be at a .96 save percentage and now is in the low .90's.

Those that I bolded are rivalries where the lower-ranked team takes some points just about every season. For all of the others, the team that won has the better record. It has been a long time since the days when Brown losing to anyone was a surprise.

Gophers beating Wisconsin is a sign of parity in women's hockey. I knew I was depressed!!

With St Anselm and Brown both having new coaches and with NEWHA being deemed (fairly) a lower skilled conference than ECAC that result result struck me as relevant.

Cornell may get rolled today, but it’s still an intriguing matchup to me... just due to the nature of hockey they very well may hang in their fine.

Shocking to see Maine take BC to OT. BC must really want to get to the winter break, and re set.

The bad teams have been getting better for years now. Even if the scores fluctuate, the overall quality has steadily improved. Schools like Union, MSU, etc. will sometimes see a dip in their improvement as the top teams stop using them as experience games for their 3rd and 4th lines and start taking them seriously.

Even Post is looking much better this season though they may not beat anyone besides St. Michael's.
