Harvard at RPI, Saturday, 2/24/24

RPI's home record of 3-9-2 doesn't exactly have us jumping for joy.

It is, however, better than Harvard's road record of 2-10-2.

Let's see if the Engineers' seniors can take home a happy memory of their last home game.

Unfortunately we were able to watch the game last night at the pub with friends who know a lot more about hockey than I do. They used words like lack of aggression and apathetic and uninspired to describe our play. You simply cannot lose virtually every puck battle along the boards or make a vague attempt at waving one handed at the puck or be out raced to pucks deep in your own zone and expect any other result than what we got. i suppose we should expect more of the same for tonight's game. We did not display much urgency yesterday and it showed starting from about the 3 second mark of the first period. Shame is that we do have a few players who are very talented and who try to give everything they have each shift on the ice. I am hping for a surprise tonight though since the team might be well rested after the effort against Dartmouth.

I totally agree with your friends assessment.
While we have a couple of talented players, even they cannot take pressure.
All the teams we play know that and play a man to man defense and pressure us all over the ice. And we have no one who can stand up to that.
I have high hopes for Gofredo. He looks like the real deal.
Anyway, we will play the game tonight and anything can happen.
Lets win one for the seniors.

Lets go RED!!!!!!!

You know it was a rough night when two of the best on the ice for the Engineers were Max & Madison Lange (the junior engineers of the game).
All kidding aside, Dartmouth scoring 12 seconds in just took the air out of the Field House, not to mention the team. Dr. D’s friends were spot on with their assessment of the game though I find it hard to believe that they know more about hockey than the good Doctor.
Let’s just hope they can put last nights game behind them and come out with a far better effort against the Crimson. LGR!

2 of the people are or were NHL scouts. I've known them for decades and over that time have found them to be able to give me a totally unbiased view of games, teams and most of all recruits. I was with them Thursday for the Rangers - Devils game also. Extremely violent game both on the ice and perhaps even more so in the stands!

Girls heading to OT at Brown scoreless. They have had several really good chances and Rampado has made a number of very tough saves. We had to kilol of 2 penalties in the third period to keep this one scoreless.

Heartbreaking loss in OT for the girls on a reviewed goal. But a pretty successful year in any case.

Too bad, but I agree that it was a successful season, especially compared to the men. I wonder who will take over for Rampado next season.

Coach Smith mentioned on the WRPI interview that both parents of Harvard's Ryan Healey played at RPI. Does anyone know who his mother is?

I tried to use the link from yesterday's thread to see if I could get audio for tonight's game, but that link gave me a replay of yesterday's game.

Anyone have a link to audio for tonight?
