Guess the Polls for 1/20!

Re: Guess the Polls for 1/20!

Remember that several eastern teams are outside the 500 mile "no fly" limit. :D

None that appear to be in contention, except possibly Geneseo depending on the route. There are ways to keep it under 500 miles.

Based on how things are shaping out so far, I would hope atleast two.

For the Women’s FF last year, all three Eastern-region teams were flown on one chartered flight out of Albany. This was probably done to mitigate costs of flying three teams via commercial airlines. To do the same to Maine may be an option, however even chartered flights are becoming out-of-reach. Our local High School was looking into flying a group to Orlando next year, and I heard that the fuel surcharges alone were in excess of $10,000.

As travel costs continue to rise and become a more-significant part of the equation (officially part of it, or “not”), one begins to wonder if the whole four-team format could be in jeopardy... for the DIII sports, at least. I certainly hope it is not, but I suppose one should never be surprised with the actions of the NC$$.

I imagine the first step would be to make all travel ground only. Any school could opt out if they did not wish to travel by land.

Volleyball has 8 teams in the finals. This year it looks like 7 teams flew to Holland, MI (Stevens Point probably bused). Money to the NCAA is just another commercial on CBS.
