It's like a more streamlined Facebook. All the usefulness, none of the FarmMafiaIslandAdorableCartoonBabyAnimalCityTownFriendVilleWar annoyance and stench of corporate evil. Yet.
Got an invite and tried it out. Seems a little more nimble than Facebook. You can create "circles" to group your friends into, and choose to reveal certain posts/things to specific circles. Few small bugs they're working out, but that's what beta is for.
