Tournament time! For the first time, all teams enter the postseason. The first round is single-elimination. After reseeding, quarterfinals are best-of-three. The weekend after that, the semis and finals are single-elimination hosted by the top remaining seed.
First round this Saturday: (12) Harvard at (5) Quinnipiac - (11) Union at (6) Yale - (10) Dartmouth at (7) Princeton - (9) RPI at (8) Brown

Who advances to the quarterfinals? (note: Inspired by ARM's previous polls.)

Wow. Brave call, but I can see it. Princeton has under-performed all year. I am going with RPI over Brown (not a big upset).

I'm going with Dartmouth to upset Princeton

I do not see this happening. Saw Dartmouth against Clarkson (9-0 and 5-0) and Princeton against Clarkson (1-0 and 1-0) and Princeton is helmets and shoulder pads better than the Big Green.
Dartmouth had no chance against Clarkson while Princeton with a bounce of the puck or without a couple of great saves by Clarkson's Michelle Pasiechnyk could have won either game.
The only upset I can see in round 1 is RPI over Brown with goaltending making the difference in the game.
I am hoping Quinnipiac can somehow take out Clarkson's Kryptonite Cornell in the next series and that Clarkson gets by I am expecting Princeton.
Clarkson would then probably have to take out SLU setting up a third game against probably Colgate. Tough to beat a good team 3 times in one season, especially one as good as Colgate.

Maybe. Maybe not. In a one-game playoff, anything can happen. As you say, a bounce of the puck in the wrong direction can be the difference between winning and losing. I've seen it happen too many times in the past to discount the possibility.

I really dislike single elimination for hockey.

An interesting conversation being had about single-elimination and also Dartmouth! They had ties against Princeton and Brown this season but also lost to them.

The first-round poll closes this afternoon at 3:01 eastern/2:01 central.
