Vote for the ECAC Rookie of the Year in your opinion. I'm leaving it open for you to vote for more than one. Explain your reasoning or write in a vote if they do not appear.

Re: ECAC Rookie(s) of the Year

I suspect that I know the answer, but I will ask this anyway. :D

What are the criteria for this award? Is one of the requirements to be a rookie hockey player in the ECAC or something else? (i.e., how is it worded?) It is RPI defenseman Nick Bailen's rookie year in the league although he played for Bowling Green two years ago. If he is eligible, then he would get my vote hands down.

I was obviously going for Freshman of the year. I totally get what you're saying about Bailen and his monster year. If you look back at the ECAC at the half way point thread, I even put him on my first team all league...so there. But yea...go with freshmen here.

I wasn't criticizing you for not including Bailen. I was just curious what the criteria are. The fact taht he is not inclued in the ECAC' s version of this poll http://www.ecachockey.com/men/index answers the question.

The Troy Record's Ed Weaver raises the same question near the end of this article http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/...4d4b9bb0c21b8889245156.txt?viewmode=fullstory. (He may have read it here.) He goes on to state that Carr is the leading candidate anyway. I suppose that I am, as usual, biased, but Bailen plays defense and does that very well too. Also Union's votes will probably be split between several candidates.

I'd put Bailen in running for MVP

I'd agree with you there. And I'm a little surprised Brock Higgs didn't make the All-Rookie Team, or make the list for Rookie of the Year. Admittedly, I don't know much about the players from any school but RPI, but he had a great first year, especially considering his dramatic injury over the holidays.

I think it's because Brock Higgs missed about 3 weeks (we all know why, but the EZAC doesn't really care) and that his in-conference numbers weren't quite as impressive as his total numbers. Most of his work was out of conference.
