ECAC Pick The Standings 2011-12

Yes ECAC Hockey Fans, back by popular demand (I Hope) is your ECAC Pick The Standings Contest for 2011-2012.

Go Puckman is the defending champion in the contest. The contest is easy. Pick the ECAC Standings at the end of the 2011-2012 season in order from 1-12 (no ties). Playoff seedings determine the position of the teams incase of a regular season tie. You accumulate points based on the difference squared of the position you pick for each team vs the teams actual finish. If you pick RPI first and they finish first you accumulate 0 points. If they finish 2nd, you accumulate 1 point, 3rd 4 points, 4th 9 points etc. LOWEST SCORE IS THE WINNER . You have until the puck drops on the first League game at 7PM on Tuesday night November 1 when the Quinnipiac Bobcats go to Hobey Baker Rink to play the Princeton Tigers.

Tie breakers are:

Pick correctly the ECACHL Regular Season Champ.
Have the most teams in the correct order of finish.
Have the most top 6 teams in the correct order of finish.
I will flip a coin .

You can change your picks at any time up till the drop of the puck of the first league game, however DO NOT EDIT THE ORIGINAL PICKS . Just put up a new post with your change.

Good luck to all.

Re: ECAC Pick The Standings 2011-12

Vic-although Jenny and i are usually among the first entrants-this year we will make our selections a bit later. Neither of us has had a chance to review the teams of the ECAC yet as we have had a number of unexpected events here to deal with. It probably won't make much difference and jenny will probably beat me as she does most years. Hope all is well-and thanks for starting this yearly tradition.

Re: ECAC Pick The Standings 2011-12

Alright, time for my first draft...

1. Dartmouth. Yes they lost Estoclet, but aside from that, not all that much.
2. Yale. Although teams are starting to figure out how to play against that European style.
3. Cornell. Why? Because it's Cornell.
4. Colgate. It's a glimmer of light from the previous playoff run that will persevere.
5. Princeton. Why not?
6. RPI. I'm following Kepler's third law of the ECAC, and putting them smack dab in the middle.
7. Q-Pac. I almost always just stick them in the middle somewhere.
8. SLU. As always, 2 or 3 positions simply because of Joe Marsh.
9. CCT goes here.
10. Union. Kinkaid is what kept that team where they were last year. (Cue Hokydad's insult in 3... 2... 1...)
11. Harvard. Still having a rough go at it.
12. Brown. Sorry guys, just the perennial basement dwellers.

These will probably change in a few weeks, but first in.
