This may have been mentioned in an earlier thread but how are shootouts treated in this contest? The ECAC counts them in the standings, but not the same as wins in regulation. Overtime wins are not counted as full wins either. OTOH, the NCAA counts the shootouts as ties and counts OT wins as wins, but not the same as the league does.

I just learned about the league's new OT/shootout/point system this week. Each team now has 6 possible outcomes (regulation win/loss, OT win/loss, shootout win/loss) for its games rather than 3 (win, loss, tie).

To keep scoring and game selection simple:
  • If a game goes to OT and is decided with a goal, you get a point if you correctly picked the winner.
  • If a game goes to a shootout, you get 2 points if you selected "tie" for that game. Picking a team to win in a shootout just doesn't feel right.
