DIII Championship Belt

I cannot find our old thread, it was fun to keep up with this along with the Hardcore Belt. For what it is worth, there has been a lot of movement with the belt this year but it has remained in the WEST. It might not be where anybody expected though, currently with a club that sits at 4-9-2 overall. If someone can locate the old thread and bump it (my search skills are obviously lacking) that would be awesome. Until then, here are the latest additions from this season.

Basically, for the current Belt Holder, every game is considered a "title defense". If they win or tie, they move on to the next defense. If they lose, the team that beat them is now the Belt Holder. Rinse, Repeat, and there ya go. Not really a 25 or less, but still.

In the case where the Championship Belt holder does not make the NCAA tournament, the national champion will become holder of an Alternate Belt. Both will exchange hands as normal per the rules until ultimately a grand reunification game will occur. This has only occurred once since in the history of the Belt, when a post-season ineligible Geneseo took the Belt from Oswego at the end of the regular season. Norwich won the right to hold the Alternate Belt, but it lasted only 4 games before the Grand Reunification took place in the Primelink Championship game of 11/27/10 at Plattsburgh.

This list runs from 1998 forward, what I refer to as the "USCHO Era". There was a list going back to 1994 available, but like norm said, USCHO didn't see fit to transfer over when they changed systems.

The stats lists are something I started doing with it last year when, at the time, I was essentially the only person updating the Championship Belt thread. If you extnded the back to 1994, I'm sure you'd find Middlebury to be far more dominant than they already are. But lately this thing has been Norwich's competition.

I didn't remember, so I just went back and checked... and unless I missed one, the Championship Belt has never been involved in a mini-game.

Also, it has been brought to my attention that I failed to explain what the "alternate belt" is and why it is labeled on the list. I've added that to my previous explanation post.
