Contenders - NOT in TOP 15

Re: Contenders - NOT in TOP 15

To me this year is looking like another 4 Western team NCAA field. The MIAC, NCHA, MCHA champs and the runner-up from the NCHA. IMHO it would look like like the MIAC Champ playing the NCHA runner-up in one Q Final and the NCHA champ playing the MCHA champ in the other Q final. The NCHA is so strong top to bottom, that they should get 2 teams in this year. The other two leagues will get the AUTO Bids.

Thoughts?

That's great and all, but I don't see Manhattanville getting a ticket into the NCAA's with loses to Western NE and Weslyan....

I have no idea how it play out in the end...Manhattanville has 2 more wins vs a top 15 team than Castelton and there # 2 in the country. Western NE and Wesleyan a combined 12-6 record to this point is not like losing to Suffolk or UNE. Just saying...

Not buying the "strong top to bottom" argument for the NCHA runner-up to get the 4th bid for the West.
If they keep beating each other up they may not be considered. Has a team with a .500 record ever received an at large bid ?

Re: Contenders - NOT in TOP 15

Pretty sure that game was like 9-1 Middlebury

That was also the same year that UMass-Dartmouth only put a bid into the host a first round game at not a quarterfinal game so Middlebury got to host UMass-Dartmouth even though UMD was the higher seed.

Oh yeah...that was also the year Oswego stopped Middlebury from four-peating in the national championship...(again). :)

You are right on all three points.... Tremendous Championship series at Superior. As I recall, you got snowed in , or you would have been there.

Superior wasn't much better than .500 last season when they received the 4th western bid.

The NCHA generally does send two teams to the tourney, and this season the conference seems to be as tight as it's ever been. I don't see them not getting two bids this season unless everyone finishes 13-12.

That is correct. Not only snowed in, but thrown out of Newark International Airport for "allegedly" kicking the counter when I was told the next flight out was the Monday or Tuesday after the Frozen Four.

Brutal. As soon as my flight got cancelled I knew Oswego was going to win it all.

you should get your flights canceled more often.
