CNE RELEASE
BEVERLY, Mass. – For the second time this season, Bella Schmidt of the Suffolk women's hockey team was named Conference of New England (CNE) Player of the week after producing three points in a 1-0-1 week for the Rams.
The sophomore forward had a hand in the 3-3 draw and the 2-1 shootout win over Western New England Friday. A day later, Schmidt was the main ingredient to the Rams' 4-2 win over the Golden Bears. With the blue-and-gold down two goals in the middle of the second period, she compiled a natural hat trick to spark the comeback 4-2 league win.
The weekly accolade is the second of the year for Schmidt first since Nov. 26 and second of the season for the Rams. She is the first women's hockey player to own multiple weekly accolades since Lily O'Neil and Alessia Di Silvestro garnered a pair last year as well. Schmidt is the first skater to pick up two best players over a seven-day span since Madison Duff in 2022-23.
Schmidt and Suffolk are back in action this weekend in a home-and-home series with the University of New England. The Rams will host the Nor'Easters Friday, Jan. 31 at 6:00 p.m., before traveling to Biddeford, Maine Saturday, Feb. 1 for a 4:00 p.m. showdown.
