Colgate @ RPI, Saturday, January...16th

Re: Colgate @ RPI, Saturday, January...16th

This is just tremendous play-by-play coverage! I watch a lot of NCAA and NHL broadcasts, and it just doesn't get any better than this! Listen and enjoy.

Am I the only one who sees this, or we just take this for granted now?

Re: Colgate @ RPI, Saturday, January...16th

3 point weekend. On balance considering that we were outplayed by Cornell by about an equal amount yesterday I can't complain.

Re: Colgate @ RPI, Saturday, January...16th

A bad tie this time. We seemed to be lucky at the end as we had nothing left in the tank. This officiating crew was not the best as i think Colgate could have been called for at least one penalty in 65 minutes. But still better than skating out of here with a loss. A 3 point weekend at home is what you need at the very least. I hope this one does not come back to haunt us in the standings later as it is so much like the Clarkson game where we also had to settle for a tie.

I am a klutz on posting here...trying to say that Bubela impresses.
Sometimes you get Miraculous Milos and other times you can get Bad Bubela. He has cost us at times but he can just be fabulous when he gets it all right.

To answer your other question check WAP where they give the preferences of the other games. From what I can see we didn't get very much outside help this weekend as most games went against our interests.

I found this to be an entertaining game. It was just too bad that the officials missed it.

Re: Colgate @ RPI, Saturday, January...16th

Missed 2 clear penalties late in the game. An elbow to the head of ( I want to say Grant) at center ice, and Orvhall got smoked in that scrum in front of the net in OT and the puck was nowhere near him. Just pathetic officiating.

When I think that officiating can't get any worse -- it does.

Re: Colgate @ RPI, Saturday, January...16th

It was even worse in person. The officiating was as bad as I’ve seen this year. Players at this level deserve better than what they get from these people. Any game now I expect a linesman to pull a puck out of his pocket rather than getting a new one like they do in an adult league.

Re: Colgate @ RPI, Saturday, January...16th

OK, took another look at it (first waive), and now I can see why it was waived. Liljegren's foot does hit the crease, and because it caused the screening of the goalie at the time of the shot, it is considered by the rule book to be crease violation, and therefore no goal. Obviously they don't allow the crowd to view replay during a review.

And looking at the Colgate waive, it's the exact same thing.

Why all the complaining about the referees? They were about as consistant as they can get. They let almost everything go throughout the game. They were not going to give either team an advantage in the third period or OT.
Considering our PP, I am not sure that it made a difference.
Our problem is lack of offensive talent. We miss open nets, can't score on breakaways. Our one go to guy is injured now, so don't expect more than two goals a game if that.
I love this teams work ethic, they try hard and play for 60/65 minutes most nights, they just can't put the puck in the net.
Even with that said, our goalie gives us a chance to win every game. We need to help him a whole lot more.

As much as letting stuff go on both sides is consistent, things were starting to get out of hand, and I wouldn't have been shocked to see a fight. I'll give you that, considering our PP, it was probably for the better.

Hitting the net has been a problem since I started watching RPI hockey in 04-05. It's a perennial thing; not sure what can be done to change it. Of course, there is one thing to consider: Are we trying too hard to get a deflection, or just flat out missing?

Once again, EHF brings it into focus. :)
