Certainly great recognition for the 3 ladies, however, we lost a ton of talent in 2013. It will be interesting to see where we finish this year, despite the losses I think we are atop 3-4 in the ECAC.

Congrats to 4 Clarkson graduates chosen in the CWHL draft. Jamie Lee Rattray was the first selection in the second round, chosen by the Brampton Thunder. Vanessa Gagnon went to the Montreal Stars with the fifth pick in the second round. Carley Mercer and Erica Howe join Rattray as Brampton draft choices, going as the first selections in the third and fourth rounds, respectively.

And it gets better... Erin Ambrose is awarded the "C" for Team Canada.

And another bright spot; committed recruit Rhyen McGill made the Canadian U18 team.

USA sweeps the U22 series (3-0) with a 3-2 shootout win today.

USA dominated the game and if not for Canada's goalie, Anne Renee Desbiens (who the Knights will probably see when they journey to Wisconsin in January) the game would have been a blowout. Canada actually led the game 2-0 with less than 3 minutes to go but they took a penalty, the US pulled their goalie and scored on the 6-4 with less than 2 min to go. Then the US pulled their goalie again and they scored again with less than a min to go to tie it up. Canada took another penalty and it carried over into the 5 min OT (which was played 4-4). For the ensuing 4-3 pk for 1:13, the Canadian coach had an all Clarkson lineup of MacAulay, Fast and Ambrose out and they killed all but 7 sec of the PP before they left the ice. Ambrose made a number of key blocks.

Shannon MacAulay was all over the ice today. She was on the #1 line, on the #1 Penalty Kill and #1 PP units and she scored Canada's first goal on the PP and assisted on Canada's 2nd goal as did Ambrose. Fast and Ambrose played a lot of time on the PK and PP. MacAulay and Fast had 1 penalty each. None of the Clarkson players participated in the shootout.

It was interesting to watch this game. The American team overall was bigger and faster than the Canadians. Gotta say the Clarkson contingent held their own in this game and I thought they played very well.

With the departure of Howe the goalie.... Any insight as to who the Knights will be leaning on this year? It's almost like they have 4 freshmen... Pretty high national ranking without any experience in net. Is this team worthy of a top ten ranking? Should be exciting and interesting .

A lot of the ranked teams are inexperienced in net. BC, Wisconsin, BU, and Cornell all graduated their starters.

My guess is Shea Tiley. But no matter who they go with, they still have one of the best defenses in the country in front of her. So that will really help.

Anyone going up tomorrow for the Banner Raising Ceremony and game against SLU?

Wow. That's a huge stretch. I don't even its one of the best defences in the ECAC. Clarkson's D lacks the depth of many other teams. Ambrose may be the best D in the country, and I'm a big fan of Fast, but beyond that it gets pretty thin. Though they're out more than half the game, those top Ds can't be on the ice all the time.

SLU took advantage of that tonight.

Poor starting goaltending, not great defense and poor offense (controlled the puck for long stretches without generating grade A scoring chances) doom the Knights on this one. I did not have them as a Top 10 team and last knight supported my position. :(

I didn't think they would be a top 10 team this year either. I did however happen to put them as my #10 this week only because virtually everyone else seemed to think they were even further up the list. I think there will probably a few teams closely bunched together between ~10-14. I guessed I was swayed somewhat by groupthink given that there was no other obvious candidate. All the other teams I would have considered for #10 either underwhelmed last weekend or have not yet played. Regardless of whether they win today, I just can't see Clarkson on my list next week.

Before playing any games, I think the defending champ deserves some respect in the polls when they return some talent. Clarkson had a lot of turnover both on the ice and on the bench, so it will take time for everyone to deal with the transition. I wouldn't write the G. Knights off just yet. I think we all did to an extent when Ambrose went down last year, and they rose above that, so maybe their culture/pride will lift them above the sum of the parts again. Once the goaltending situation is stable, they may yet wind up as a top 10 or a tournament team.

Good two game tilt vs. BU this weekend, good test to see where this team stands.....it will be tough sledding without Fast and Howe in the line up. LGT
