CHL & NCAA Reportedly Working on Deal to Allow Major Junior Players

This is something bubbling up lately and a report has come out saying a deal between the NCAA and CHL is in the works. I could see this being both good and bad for NCAA hockey. There would also be a lot of ramifications on junior leagues like the USHL, BCHL, Canadian JR A as a whole, prep hockey and more. Could see this as having a very big impact on the bottom half of NCAA division 1 players currently and division 3 as a whole. Im undecided on how I feel about it but I think my initial gut reaction is it gives me a bad feeling unless there’s something else with it like an age limit is also in place. Lots of American kids will lose their spot in college hockey if this goes through, that is a certainty

Im fine with a deal to let anyone play, but I would like the NCAA to take away a yr of eligibility for every yr after HS you delay enrollment. 22-26 yr olds should find somewhere else to play

Because he wants the "elite" programs to continue to get all the high-school blue chippers, without those annoying "little" schools being able to find the late-maturing, diamonds in the rough to be competitive. Can't have that.

There was actually a rule proposed a few years ago that the 4 year clock started 1 year after your class graduated from HS.

It failed.

And if I recall correctly, it was Lucia when he was at Minnesota who was pushing it.
