Here's a CHA thread for 2023-24. This season marks the welcome return of Robert Morris! The preseason coaches' poll was released today: https://chawomenshockey.com/news/20...ge-hockey-america-preseason-coaches-poll.aspx

Coaches' Poll:

1. Penn State
2. Mercyhurst
3. Robert Morris
4. Syracuse
5. Lindenwood
6. RIT

Preseason player of the year: Tessa Janecke (PSU); others receiving votes -- Morgan Neitzke (Lindenwood)
Preseason co-roories of the year: Karolina Hengelmuller(PSU) and Henlee Mahoney (Mercyhurst); others receiving votes -- Sofia Nuutinen (Mercyhurst)

Preseason All-CHA team:
Forwards -- Tessa Janecke (PSU), Sara Boucher (Mercyhurst), Morgan Neitzke (Lindenwood); others receiving votes -- Vanessa Upson (Mercyhurst), Thea Johansson (Mercyhurst), Julie Gough (PSU), Alaina Giampietro (RMU)
Defense -- Sydney Peterson (Mercyhurst), Lyndie Lobdell (PSU); others receiving votes -- Maggie MacEachern (PSU), Karolina Hengelmuller (PSU), Chloe Puddifant (RMU)
Goalie: Ena Nystrom (Mercyhurst); others receiving votes -- Josie Bothun (PSU)

Looks like Neitzke stayed at Lindenwood. Penn State and Mercyhurst missed out on a good one.

I was really surprised Nietzke didn't get picked up by another team. You're right - she would've been a good one for Penn State.

I hope Robert Morris can get back to their old ways before too long, and be as competitive as they were. Mercyhurst is always there, and Penn State is up there now, too, and it would be great to have Robert Morris get back to how strong they were and make the conference a good dog fight.

Week 1 CHA scores:

Saturday, Sept. 23

PSU 0, Northeastern 1
RIT 1, RPI 1
Post 0, Mercyhurst 5
Bemidji State 2, Lindenwood 4

Sunday, September 24

PSU 2, Northeastern 1
RIT 1, RPI 1
Post 0, Mercyhurst 2
Bemidji State 1, Lindenwood 4

Summary: #11 PSU splits with #5 Northeastern, RIT ties RPI twice, Mercyhurst sweeps Post and Lindenwood sweeps Bemidji state. RMU also had an exhibition game against the Cambridge Rivulettes and will return to D-I play next weekend against Union. Good weekend for the CHA in non-conference play!
