Here is the seedings for the CCHA post-season.

Round 1:

11) Michigan State at 6)Alaska

10) NMU at 7) Michigan

9) BGSU at 8) LSSU

Round 2:

1) Miami vs TBD

2) ND vs TBD

3) WMU vs TBD

5) Ferris at 4) Ohio St

Michigan clinched the 7 seed by taking 2 points from Ferris tonight. Miami's win clinched the top spot, while ND's win combined with the WMU loss to MSU jumps ND to #2 and drops WMU to #3. Ferris needed 3 points tonight vs Michigan but lost in a SO for 1 point so OSU is the 4 and Ferris the 5. Alaska had already clinched the #6 seed while Michigan's SO win clinched the #7 when it was combined with BGSU's loss. LSSU's win jumps them over BGSU and they will host the 1st round series between the two foes next weekend. NMU's loss tonight leaves them at #10, while MSU had already solidified the #11 seed before their win over WMU tonight.

Tonight's result set up the CCHA post-season, but may have hurt the conference come NCAA time.WMU losing to MSU has to hurt them in the RPI. Michigan's tie with Ferris doesn't kill the Bulldogs, but makes the OSU series in two weeks critical for their post-season hopes.

Michigan's performance tonight doesn't show a lot, other then the defense has started to play better. They need a run to the CCHA Title to continue the streak of NCAA appearances. I don't think it will happen, but I think the odds are better than they were 2 weeks ago.

NEVER count a Red Berenson team out. Playing Michigan will be very very tough! Man for man one of the top teams in college hockey and now they are coming together. There is no substitute for GREAT coaching and Red is a great coach!
