Re: CCHA Pick-em Week 11

Laker Dude, what's the proper way to pick these games??

Do we pick one team that we think will beat them? (ex. Miami beats Robert Morris OR can we just say Miami will beat Penn State or Robert Morris?)

Penn State/Robert Morris vs. Miami
Penn State/Robert Morris vs. Ohio State
Western Michigan/Michigan State vs. Michigan
Western Michigan/Michigan State vs. Michigan Tech

Penn State/Robert Morris vs. Miami
Penn State/Robert Morris vs. Ohio State

Choosing Miami is saying that they will beat Penn State or Robert Morris, no matter who they play. If you think Miami or Ohio State will lose on Saturday then you would select Penn State/Robert Morris for that game.

The GLI is a little more confusing. This is the first time I have ever seen a holiday tournament with 3 CCHA teams involved. On Sunday you are picking Michigan and Michigan Tech to win or lose. If you think both Michigan and Michigan Tech will lose, you would want your post to look like:

Sunday December 30th:
Western Michigan/Michigan State vs. Michigan
Western Michigan/Michigan State vs. Michigan Tech

I saw some variations of the above post which can be seen in the post below. This post would still be scored as the poster selecting both Michigan and Michigan Tech to lose. The record would still be 1 win and 1 loss for the day if Western ended up beating Michigan Tech, and Michigan beats Michigan State.

Thank you for clarifying! I saw both variations and didn't know which one was "more correct".

As always, thank you for organizing this!

What will be the scoring if there is a tie in the tournament games (aka everything but Niagara at BGSU) that is decided by a shootout?

Thank you for running the CCHA pick 'em. I understand you had to find a way to do the GLI with 3 CCHA teams. I just would have had an easier time picking how I think Western and State will do on Sunday (because I'd pick those the same way vs. either Michigan or Tech).

For the tournaments that utilize shootouts, I will score the games just like a regular CCHA game that ends in a tie. If Michigan wins a shootout on Sunday, you would get the extra point for the shootout win if you selected Michigan. If Michigan loses a shootout on Sunday, you would get the extra point for the shootout if you selected against the Wolverines. I am not sure on the overtime rules for the GLI. In the championship game last year, they went to a 20 minute overtime period.

Thank you for running the CCHA pick 'em. I understand you had to find a way to do the GLI with 3 CCHA teams. I just would have had an easier time picking how I think Western and State will do on Sunday (because I'd pick those the same way vs. either Michigan or Tech).

I decided to split the GLI the way I did since Western currently has the best record of the 4 teams. I figured the majority would pick Western if I had the option on Sunday the other way around.
