Re: Catamount Cup - UMD vs. Mercyhurst, Saturday 1/2

Bruce, this is what Heiz said re: PWR

RWD: If Mercyhurst gets the auto-bid for their conference, do they not automatically become a TUC?

Heiz: No. They changed that rule after the 2005-2006 season. The long and short of it was Holy Cross could have lost their conference tournament championship game and still made the NCAAs, thus giving the AHA two NCAA berths instead of one. It was a quirky, perfect storm in the PWR calculations. So for the 2006-2007 season and beyond, the definition of TUC was changed to a team in the top 25 of the RPI. This essentially ensures the AHA and CHA conference tournament winners are the only teams from those conferences because they are usually near the bottom of RPI because of their opponent's winning percentage and opponent's opponents winning percentage.

I may be in the military but that doesn't mean I know every acronym. TUC?

hockeyeastonline.com has the score of the game. Scoreless so far. The only problem is that is has the teams mislabeled as the late night game (it has UAH and Vermont instead of UMD and mercyhurst). Everything else is correct though.

1-0 Bulldogs after 1. Good first period for the dogs, but we gotta put in some of these prime chances we're getting.

I'd like to see a Vermont UMD final. But as for this game--the lakers goalie is really keeping them in it. Could be 3-0 right now.

Shots 15-7 UMD. 1-0 UMD after one.

UMD 0-2 PP
Mercyhurst 0-0 PP
