Canadian National Women's Team

Re: Canadian National Women's Team

strange how some players chosen top 26 for the Kaz on not invited?

Agreed! Babstock was fifth leading scorer this season and doesn't get an invite? Totally crazy. Hockey Canada and USA Hockey continually like the retreads until they retire. Maybe some of the younger ladies should look at their ancestory and see if they can get on somebody elses national teams?

Re: Canadian National Women's Team

Has anyone heard anything about the two scrimmages between Canada and the US? The USA Hockey site says they will be played on 4/7 and 4/8 but no mention of the times or any other details. I am only a few hours from Ann Arbor and would like to attend the scrimmage on Friday 4/8.

Re: Canadian National Women's Team

Who are the new ones coming along in Canadian Female Hockey? Who is the next Poulin. Mikkelson, Szabados? Ontario? Alberta won the Canada Winter games over Ontario. Who does Alberta have that might be the next?

Congratulations and good luck to all four Terriers, especially Tara and Jennifer. They were fun to watch last season and I look forward to watching the three returning players next season.

Christ, the cut players should be put on their own team and added to Worlds...bet they would make a pretty good splash. ;)

Exactly... If you took the cuts from the Selection camp along with the others from the U-22 and made a second Canadian Team the US could easily counter with its fringe players and the two north american entries could still easily go 1-4 at worlds... not to say the rest of the world is not trying but the gap is still huge IMHO..

Re: Canadian National Women's Team

Maybe Jenner had an off weekend. It's rare for her, I know, but it happens. When you are at that level even struggling a bit to find your game can cost you a spot. I like the concept of a pre-worlds camp instead of players receiving spots based on previous play. The "vets" on the team know what they have to do, know how to react and have previous USA/Canada experience, to keeping them around makes sense. Let's not forget Botterill was left off the 4 Nations roster, so the vets obviously need to prove themselves as well. REGARDLESS, Jenner is a brilliant talent and a great great person who will have a long career and make her impact with Hockey Canada very very soon.

Re: Canadian National Women's Team

I wonder if Canada was just wearing out Raty's logo or if she was that dominant. 48 saves, 1 ga. 8 pp attempts. The score makes the game seem close but then you see shots 50-14.
