BU @ RPI, Saturday 12/13

Re: BU @ RPI, Saturday 12/13

The score most certainly does not represent the play in this game. Although the score was about what most of us expected, RPI played a surprisingly good game and perhaps deserved a better fate. Considering we had only one power play chance all night and created a fairly large number of chances, this one goes into the books as a 5-1 loss.

While I agree that the score was to be expected, and I agree that RPI played a surprisingly good game, I don't know that we deserved a better fate. Maybe one extra goal at best. The fact is that BU is a very, very good team and they earned their result.

Let's hope for better next time.

Not disagreeing but-if we did get that one other goal, and our goaltending was able to avoid the soft goals, this becomes a very competitive game which is all i was saying. Did not mean we deserved a win. But watching this game it appeared like a 3-2 game or stretching it a bit, a 2-2 game instead of the 4-1 it was(before the ENG).

Doc, we knew that they were capable of playing a game like this, and we will see many more before this season is over. Our problem is that this team couldn't put the puck in the ocean. We create many opportunities and have looks at open nets and we just can't finish the play. Even when we had our full compliment of players, we didn't score goals. Hopefully a couple of our freshmen will emerge as goal scorers so that we don't have to go through this for another year or two. As for Diebold, he is just inconsistent, he made two or three great saves in the first period, then he lets one in from behind the goal line in the second. He is not the same goalie he was last year.
