Broadmoor Championship: Denver and UND on Saturday in St. Paul

Gunning For 10
This one's for all the WCHA marbles. #1 and #2 facing each other for the Broadmoor. Don't remember the last time #1 and #2 made it to the final. These two teams last faced each other back in October on Halloween weekend in Grand Forks. UND won 4-3 on Friday with Sam Brittain coming back on Saturday to get a 3-0, 31 save shutout win. Jay Z had 3 goals that weekend with Drew Shore, Kyle Ostrow and Matt Donovan picking up the other 3. Cirban Knight has 2 goals, Dillon Simpson had 1 as did Mike Cichy. Matt Frattin was kept off of the scoresheet that weekend and Jason Gregoire had 2 assists. Should be a great game between two rivals who know each other well.

That October series was also the one in which Jesse Martin suffered his broken neck which he is miracuously recovering from. Jesse is with the team in St. Paul. He made the trip to visit the doctor's for a check-up as well as cheer his teammates on.

You really should. It was in '05 when DU beat CC.

I'm sure it will be a very intense game.

I remember '05 for DU's 4-1 win over UND in Columbus for the NCAA title. :D;)

It was interesting that in '05 DU beat UND and CC for the Broadmoor in St. Paul and then beat CC and UND in Columbus for the NCAA title.

Should be a great game tonight--can't wait. With the impending loss of UMinn and UW from our conference (even with an interconference schedule of some sort), this game reminds me how fortunate we are to have Denver in the conference. Great hockey tradition, and they're always up there with the best, which makes games like this and the game in general so much fun to watch.

That doesn't mean the Sioux won't kick their pansy arses tonight.

BTW, everybody stop by the Gopher offseason thread on your way home. :)

I wish the Beavers could have found a way into this game, but oh well. Looking forward to a great game tonight!

didn't see any of the DU game yesterday...all the bar TVs were on bouncy ball. Sioux looked good when they were playing with intensity last night.

I'll be in attendance tonight. Section 102 Row 2. After watching yesterday's semifinals I just had to get tickets for tonight :-) I hope each team brings it and makes it as classic as yesterday's game between UND and CC.

Looking forward to it. Last night's game set a pretty high standard, but hopefully both teams leave it all on the ice tonight. It would have been nice to see Bemidji in the final, but a matchup with Denver? I can't say no to great hockey.

Also, will Trupp be playing with a lacrosse stick this evening?

Shamrocks Pub & Grill on W. 7th is rocking with UND fans as people get their pre-game grub on.
PS-- best burgers in the cities by far!

Hell of a game and fun to watch.....even for someone rooting against both teams. ;)
