Bracket breakers

Re: Bracket breakers

True enough. We've seen Curry before at Kreitzberg, and even though it was an exhibition game, the results were not positive. I don't want those guys ending our season.

They've come back at least once more since then. I seem to remember Norwich winning convincingly in the TA one year. 04-05 or 05-06?

The ex game is an example of what happens when you take a team too lightly. I remember not having positive feelings about their style of play whenever I've seen them.

Re: Bracket breakers

Fredonia is not Norwich

OK, but you made the general statement "It's awful hard to beat a Team 3 s in the same year"....I responded. I doubt Plattsburgh is going to forfeit the game on Saturday (if Norwich makes it) just because it's Norwich for the third time.:D

Re: Bracket breakers

IF and its a big IF ..... Josh Leis outduels his counterpart in net.....regardless of the team ,The Cardinals are battle tested enough and certainly have the speed and grit to beat any team in this tourney.

Plattsburgh's fortunes rest solidly on the shoulders of its collective defensive desire and no SOFTIES by its netminder ,maybe even more than any other team in the tourney.

I am hopeful and I think Norwich is a huge potential hurdle , if they get by Norwich (assuming a win over Curry) watch out ......

In the last 10 years either Platty or Oswego has had the opportunity to beat their counterpart 3 times in a row 7 times. The team leading the series 2-0 has won 4 of those 7 match-ups. Doesn't sound awful hard to me.

I agree. I am confident that Plattsburgh can do well is this tourney, and I am a little nervous about Norwich, because of the way they have been playing of late. That is going to be a good game; that 7-4 win earlier this year is not going to happen. Norwich is a different team, and Leis has played well the last couple games. If he can continue to play this well, I think the Cardinals have the ability to go all the way.

Re: Bracket breakers

Does a 4-3 Primelink Shootout count as a victory?? Who would have thought on 11-29-09 Norwich would compile a 26-1-4 record and walk away with the ultimate prize.
11-28-09 Primelink Shootout; Wick 1 Platty 1; Shootout- Wick 4 Platty 3
1-5-10 Wick 4 Platty 1
3-19 -10 NCAA Semifinal Wick 3 Platty 2

Re: Bracket breakers

Oh yeah, I knew there was a recent game with them, and I remember it was something of a penalty fest (both sides contributing, but Curry instigating, and Norwich getting sucked into retaliation)

4-0 Norwich last year and it was nothing of a slugfest. 7 penalties to 5. Both teams were 0-3 and 0-5 on the PP. Score was 0-0 after 1st. It was 1-0 with 10 seconds left in the 2nd when Norwich got the bounce and made it 2-0. Did not get to 3-0 till like 4 minutes remaining in game. Game was a good game.

In 05' penalties were 9 NU, 6 CC. again NO Slugfest. 5-3 with 10 minutes left and 6-4 with 5 minutes left in game. Again a pretty good game.

In 04' penalties were 7NU, 6CC. Curry 3-2 Final. Exhibition or not. Very intense game.

I don't know where your talking about slugfests!! Yes i'm a curry fan and was at all three games and don't rfemember it ever getting out of control??

And this year with the exception of Saturdays final vs. WIT Curry has been excellent regarding penalties. Curry usually is in the top 5 in penalties and this year are something like 20?? Take out that last game and they wouild even be alot lower. They will need to stay out of the box tomorrow. Curry plays with great speed.

Common opponents:
Babson: Curry beat 5-1, Norwich tied and beat.
Nichols: Curry beat twice, Norwich beat 3-2
Trinity: Curry beat 6-1, Norwich beat 1-0
Tufts : Curry beat 3-2, Norwich beat 6-3
Manhattanville: Curry lost 2-1, Norwich lost 5-1
NEC: Curry beat 7-4, Norwich beat 6-1
Plattsburgh: Curry and Norwich both lost.

That is alot of common opponents. Curry has played alot of good teams this year. So playing a great team like Norwich is not anything new to the Colonels. Should be a good one!! I'll be at Kreitzberg wearing my purple!!

Re: Bracket breakers

No team should be looking past anyone else now. However, Curry had close to 15 penalties in their game against Wentworth. 3 of them were majors. If they even come CLOSE to doing that again against Norwich, it'll be over real quick.

Only one major not 3. But they do need to stay out of box!

I didn't say slugfest, I said penalty fest. 22 minutes is a lot of penalties. When you start taking upwards of 15 minutes of penalties in one game, you edging towards the undisciplined. Curry is one of the teams in the NE that does work at coming up with a respectable non-conference schedule. Perhaps I over stated, or you over read my statement. I will stand by the undisciplined appellation. Those were good games. I am looking forward to tomorrow night (already thinking about where to park  (although I think my usual spot should be available)
