Boy Stuck In Balloon

Turn on a news channel.

A 6 year old Denver boy climbed into a helium balloon before it took off. Right now it is going about 30 mph in the air, and is said to be around 7 degrees at the altitude he is at. This thing could get up to 10,000 feet in the air.

No kidding. I first saw the headline and started to laugh... then I realized how terrible this could, and likely would, turn out. A very sad story.

True, but if the sibling said the child fell out, then he/she wasnt very high off the ground. You hope at least...

a homemade flying saucer... are you kidding me?

the boys brother reports he saw him fall out? and an expert on cnn says it looks like the basket is empty from the flight path of the balloon.

if this thing turns out to be empty....

I know there was a news story a few years ago about a college-aged girl dying after climbing into a balloon at an event... while it might sound like a fun idea, cartoons are cartoons for a reason... to make fantasies about what isn't possible but sure would be awesome if they were.

The colorado station is saying its down to ~500 feet. Also, they say they won't show the landing until they know the kid is OK.
