Last year's series...

BC 2 NU 0 (EN goal)
BC 7 NU 6 (Beanpot Final)
BC 7 NU 7
BC 1 NU 2
BC 5 NU 4 (Hockey East semifinal)

Matthews should be rocking. DogHouse will be sold out. Gaudreau comes to Matthews. Here we go. Big, big test for NU.

Re: Boston College @ Northeastern 10/22

Good point.. a good road outing does wonders for the weekend. We could use a good road outing.
Saturday is too far away.

Re: Boston College @ Northeastern 10/22

Why the **** is this on the 2nd page? I expected people to be at each other's throats by now, or at least make this somewhat entertaining. Do I need to revive last year's thread for reference?? Maybe change the title to "Johnny better skate with his head up?"

Re: Boston College @ Northeastern 10/22

Gaudreau has been very impressive so far. I know it's early but I think we may have struck gold with this kid.:D

Re: Boston College @ Northeastern 10/22

You didn't strike it. NU mined it and you stole the claim before we could get it back town! (Just kidding about the "stole" part, but you get the idea.)

because the game is saturday night and both teams play friday night.....cant get ahead of ourselves...............how about "will cody skate at all?" for the title instead?

Re: Boston College @ Northeastern 10/22

Just a little fuel for the fire.

Gaudreau was named top incoming forward by INCH.

Thanks NU for giving him to BC.

Re: Boston College @ Northeastern 10/22

Game sold out earlier this afternoon. I expect more childish smack talk as we get closer folks.

Re: Boston College @ Northeastern 10/22

NU Athletics' Twitter feed is reporting that BC has turned back "a limited number" of tickets for Sat. night's game. DHD sources peg the number at 62. Guess the yellow t-shirts got their annual hockey fix last Sat.

Re: Boston College @ Northeastern 10/22

How on Earth did NU get Gaudreau in the first place? Watching him on TV last night makes me think he could have been a generational type player for the Huskies. Seeing him up the street on Comm. Ave has to be a killer.

So I'm assuming Thursday is the cutoff where they return tickets?

I thought that's what the recruiting violations were about??? ;)

That has always been my understanding although NU returned tix to 'Mack for the Fri. game on Monday (much to the consternation of ppl trying to buy them on Tue. and Wed.).

Yes it is, and as thick as our collective skin is, it still causes a rash to break out.

Hard work by Albie O'Connell had a lot to do with is signing with NU. The fact is that once the kid (or his father/advisor) started making D-Com noises, the rest of HEA seemed to feel he was fair game and began recruiting him. What good is the LOI document, if other schools, including BC are free to ignore it.

BTW, Garrett Haar, had never signed an LOI. When BC was asked by McPhee to take him in, BC passed - knowing there was a far bigger prize out there. No one ever said you were dumb birds!

They had nothing to do with it. They were violations of the number of times per week we could get in touch with recruits who had already signed their LOIs. They were no longer being recruited. They were committed.

Want to know how many schools ACs had violated that rule? Ask your coaching staff!

Didn't those noises start when Cronin bailed? If the coach bails and the kid wants out, he's fair game IMO.

Not saying it doesn't happen elsewhere, but why have we only heard about it in this one instance at NU?

Yes, and I'm sure Ohio St. and Miami are the only ones bending the rules in D1 FBS football...

Disclaimer: I haven't seen Gaudreau play since he was in the USHL. An undersized 4th round draft pick out of the USHL gets to BC where they play a fast paced skill game in line with his skill set, and is surrounded by one of the most talented assortments of players in the country. Is Gaudreau good? yea hes good, he puts up points, but I think he fits into BC's system MUCH better than he would at NU, plus he is playing with linemates who make the game much easier for him. He doesn't have the pressure of being the biggest name on the team either. I see him having a solid career in the HE, maybe even ends up 1st line at BC as an upperclassman, but he is not a generational player. BC will facilitate his development as a playmaker more than NU could with their current group of forwards, but I dont see him tearing up the league all four years, I dont think the NHL scouts thought so either considering he went 4th round.
