It's summer, why not?

What do you think the best websites are in rank order from 1-11 in the CCHA?

I’m not going to judge the websites; however mmf for UA_ does a outstanding job of taking action shots with his camera throughout the nanooks games.

OK. What's going on? You need a place to stay when you travel north? Need to borrow money? Third party custodian? What's your angle? :)

Haha, he's setting you up for something. He's a clever one, we know.

So we have four CCHA schools contracted with CBS Sports
Two contracted by Neulion
Two contracted by Presto Sports
Two contracted by Sidearm Sports
and one that doesn't have a dedicated athletics .com address and adheres to their in-house design code.

From experience, the NMU website, while lacking the "gee-wiz" features of the rest is a WHOLE lot faster and easier to navigate on an iPod Touch.

Eliminating the NMU.edu site (because that's comparing a Edsel to Corvettes and Mustangs), my choice for the best website is the UA_ Nanooks website.

It's less busy than the others and doesn't seem to lag loading any of the fancy CSS scripts. Not a fan of the slide out sub-menus, but they're easy to navigate.

Re: Best Website in the CCHA?

Miami's site is ok, but I can't stand the CBS part. It's supposed to be our site yet they commonly refer to Miami as Miami of Ohio which, of course, is not an official designation of Miami University.

Re: Best Website in the CCHA?

For giggles, here's a quick Photoshop Mockup of what I'd like to see the NMU website be similar too. Maybe a little less hockey so they could support all sports.

<img width=600px src=http://www.nmubaseball.net/uscho/mockup.jpg>

Honestly, it's not TOO different from the existing site; a big main graphic, top bar navigation and a sidebar of information. The current site is not heavy on the graphics which is nice for mobile devices.

Can the new site have a USCHO tab?

Re: Best Website in the CCHA?

Well OSU doesn't have coaches or a roster for this year and none of the current players made any news over the summer...although not making any news might be a good thing.

I agree with you in theory. The older and more prestigious school should, by the standards of good taste, get the media benefit of being the primary "Miami" without the state identifier attached.

That said, it's always going to be an issue for the mainstream media. When you say "Miami" to 98% of Americans, the first thing that comes to mind is the rather large city in South Florida....Even though Miami University is far older and more prestigious than the University of Miami in Coral Gables, the Florida association and the larger prominence of the 'Canes football makes the Miami (Ohio) media default easier as the smaller athletic entity...

Agreed. That said, the Miami (OH) or Miami (Ohio) usage is fine. In fact the media guide specifically states that is proper usage when possible confusion is an issue. That said, it also states the preferred usage is either Miami University, or simply, Miami.

Miami of Ohio isn't even school approved yet it appears on our site. Good times...
