Back in the day...

Re: Back in the day...

Steve, good thing you don' t care about celebrities, because you have met alot! The picture of your American Legion team includes Bobby Keefe, he and I were partners on the rescue company for West Shore FD for many years together. We have both since retired from that job. Bob is doing well and lives in Guilford, I will send him the photo and a link to your blog. Interestingly, Bob's son Neil, a former hockey player for Suffolk University has become a sports blogger like yourself, Google "Keefe to the city". And you should find it.

Re: Back in the day...

I heard about it as it was happening. How crazy was that. You were there?

Yeah, even though I am no longer working there I still keep tabs on the scanner. I heard the call come in and figured, WTH, you don't get to see an ice rescue everyday. It was all very quick, by the time I arrived they had him just about out of the water. Nice job by the WHFD. I just checked out your Dad's obit and some links provided, what a cool cat. Did he actually run that club while living in West Haven? Talk about the best of both worlds if he did. It's actually amazing that you ever played hockey at all. How about these Westie jerseys from at the Veteran Angler Charters fundraiser on Saturday. Unfortunately the Blue Devils lost to #1 Darien 2-0. http://www.flickr.com/photos/85963470@N07/12261937963/in/photostream/

Great jerseys. And yes, my dad owned and ran Eddie Condon's on West 57th st. in Manhattan from 75-85. It was fun to go there with friends when I was in college. Free booze and food.
