>> Atlantic Hockey Pick'em 2019-2020 <<

Hello everyone! Welcome back to Atlantic Hockey Pick'em for the 2019-2020 season! With some regular season games starting next weekend, it's time to get pick'em up and running again!

Similar to previous years, we will use a google form to make picks. 1 point will be awarded for a correct winner, 2 points for correctly calling a tie. In general, our weeks will run Thursday to Wednesday. Results will be posted typically a day after the last game, and the following weekend's schedule should be posted on Monday morning. Picks only count if submitted before puck drop of the game you are picking, so be sure to get those picks in early because there are a handful of Thursday night games this year!

For tournaments, cups, etc (like the Icebreaker) without predetermined games, I will post both possible opponents for the second game, and use the pick from the correct game.

Note: If you want to change you picks after you post them, please just resubmit all picks on the form. I will use your latest submission. If you miss a game and want to post for the rest of the weekend (or re-pick on Saturday AM, for example), just put random teams for any completed games and I won't count them.

Let me know if you have any questions. Good Luck!

NOTE: My current plan is to ignore the 3-on-3 and shootout - if a game goes to these (after the initial 5 min OT period of 5 on 5), I plan to count it as a tie still. I am not sure how other pick'ems handle this - I am open to discussion on it though, so let me know your thoughts below!

I hacked up your original "calculator" and award 2 pts for an OT win and 1 pt for an OT loss which mirrors how the WCHA awards points. However, I don't think doing it this way impacts the overall standings the way ties do. In other words, a lot of extra work for little gain.

I left your tie calculation in the formula and use it for OOC games (which can end in a tie).

I'm in again!

And 3 points for a regulation win, just like league standings?

Correct on all counts. Here's a link to this year's: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wVYL2D5AtSUbE7dXRUH17UjZIHTcA1UISAj3_Z5j_Ms/edit?usp=sharing

Putting anything in column G indicates it's an OT game (worth 2 or 1 pt) otherwise it's a "regular" game (worth 3 or 0 pt).

I also periodically do a bonus question, you'll see that in there as well. Lastly, I never miss an opportunity to over-engineer anything if possible but you'll see the core is still what you initially created in the first 3 tabs.

Edit: Here's last year's if you wanted to see one filled out: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HRmu1S8SYgAVvVwrSlzgn4XojjYBTkq4Y1m03GitpNo/edit#gid=0

Pick/Score tracking spreadsheet is here: https://tinyurl.com/AHApickem19
I also added it to my signature.

Results of Tie question:
6 - no opinion
4 - keep ties - any game tied after 65 minutes is officially a tie
3 - get rid of ties - use a 3 point system

Pretty close here - for this season I will continue doing what we have done in the past - correctly picking the winner (in regulation or 5-on-5 OT) is worth 1 point. Correctly predicting a tie after the 5-on-5 OT is worth 2 points. I'll ignore 3-on-3 OT and shootouts.

Thanks everyone!

The first tab looks pretty familiar :)

the rest...wow, that's some pretty intense stuff! I may look at copying some of it.

I'm not much of an original thinker, but I'm pretty good at expanding on a good idea. And you have rights to any and all derivative works!

If I am not mistaken, Atlantic Hockey went 3-3-1 in non-conference action. That is probably the best the conference has done on opening weekend in a while. Kudos to RIT, Mercyhurst, and Army for wins, and Sacred Heart for the tie.

I'm happy to have picked a couple of these wrong.

Leather Lungs didn't pick many wrong, earning 6 points this weekend (and was the only person to correctly call the 1 tie we had).

Standings:
Code:
Rank Username Points
1	Leather Lungs..........6
2	TalonsUpPuckDown.......4
2	komey1.................4
2	Bronco Hockey Fan......4
5	XCTiger................3
5	SweeneyHawksHockey.....3
5	palettofriar...........3
5	niahock................3
5	Mikey NoNo.............3
5	GoTigers2019-2020......3

5	CornwallAce............3
5	35TH40TH...............3
14	RMUfan2016.............2
15	mar7967................1

If something looks off, let me know. I do make mistakes sometimes.

Are we doing golf scoring this year? If so, I'm looking pretty good right now!
