Any Android Power Users Here? - HTC Sense Lock Screen

Zudnic

Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose
I'm kind of surprised the "computer help" threads haven't expanded to "phone help"..

I have a Thunderbolt running stock Froyo and HTC Sense (not rooted) and I want to add some basic text on the lock screen, like "if found call..." so if I lose my phone and someone honest finds it, I can recover it.

This seems next to impossible in the HTC world. There's an app called Paranoid Android (perhaps a Radiohead reference) but it's not compatible with HTC.

TIA

Re: Any Android Power Users Here? - HTC Sense Lock Screen

Thanks. I downloaded WidgetLocker and besides it being next to impossible to configure, I think this is impossible for me since my corporate security policy is interfering with my lock screen. I gave up and made a custom wallpaper. HTC sense is slick but doing anything remotely "different" with it is impossible.

You thought widgetlocker was hard to configure...I set up my lock screen on my evo in like 5 minutes.

Re: Any Android Power Users Here? - HTC Sense Lock Screen

Instead of starting a new thread, ill ask my Android/phone question here. :)

Has anyone bought an extended life battery for their phone? Mine comes with 1540 mAh I think. Verizon sells a 1930 and they go up to 3500 mAh online (numbers could be slightly off).

1) Does it noticeably extend life when actively using the phone (apps, etc.) all day? I know playing a game on my phone eats the battery in just over an hour of use.

2) I know the batteries are a bit larger and come with new covers to fit the phone, is it bulky, or does it still fit right when holding it in your hand?

3) The highest ones are $40-50 it seems, is it worth that price?

I guess you're smarter than me, then. I thought it was a pain in the arse. I think my enterprise security policy was running interference too.

I got this one from a seller on ebay for $15 and have not been disappointed.

It greatly extends battery life. I had to recharge the stock battery daily - now I can run this for more than 2 days with normal usage. Even running my Golflogix app while playing it only loses about half to 3/4 of battery life over a 4-5 hour round.

It does add a little bulk to the phone, but is not that noticeable. I have a silicone sleeve - rather than buying a new one that fits the extended battery, I just cut away the portion over the battery. This battery comes with a cover that has a rubberized coating on it, so it acts as a silicone cover anyway.

You can manage your power with some common sense stuff like turning down the brightness, firing up GPS only when you need it, etc, but I am guessing you've tried all that already. I have a ThunderBolt and its battery life is decent if I keep the LTE and GPS off.

I have one and I love it. I am not a heavy user so I can go days without needing to recharge if I am not on it that much (other times not so much). Didn't really notice the difference as far as bulk at all.
