Amazon help

Eagles

Seguin!
I sold a textbook on Amazon about two weeks. I entered the ISBN into Amazon't system and they located the book. Someone bought it and I shipped it out. Well the buyer (who happens to be a company that buys and sells books on Amazon) got in contact with me and said the book they received is not the one they purchased. Its' very similar to what I sent but not the exact version they wanted.

I'm claiming that its not my fault. I entered the ISBN on Amazon's site; any book that appeared that wasn't the book I was selling is not my fault, its Amazon's. They said they are gonna file a complaint and let the website deal with it. So, am I right on this one?

The way I see it, you're right, but you may as well start by seeing how Amazon decides to resolve the dispute; maybe they'll say that it's close enough and the buyer should just pay for it.

Re: Amazon help

You'll need to review the Terms of Service or Use for Amazon's Marketplace, or whatever Amazon function you used to sell the book. It should have a dispute resolution mechanism. I don't sell on Amazon, but my sister has and she's had generally favorable results with any issues that arise with buyers.

Well it appears that they buyer is gonna go down the route. Should I do it too just to cover myself?

Re: Amazon help

I've sold lots of books on Amazon marketplace. Amazon is very customer friendly. I'd be prepared to lose.

Not trying to be a downer. Just relaying personal experience. Unhappy customer usually = bad news for seller. Just have to hope it doesn't happen often.

Curious to know how it works, out, though....

Re: Amazon help

Well I called Amazon and turns out there wasn't much I could do. They pretty much told me that their system is flawless and doesn't make errors. It doesn't help that the error that occurred on the day I posted the book isn't happening now. Basically Amazon said that there is no way to prove that I entered the correct ISBN and that the argument can be made that I probably found the book by searching for the title. I wouldn't have minded issuing a refund if the buyer wasn't a d-bag.
