Alvernia (Reading, PA) announced that they are adding three varsity sports: men's hockey, women's wrestling and esports (under the National Association of Collegiate Esports umbrella).
Men's hockey will be a member of the UCHC conference and will also compete in the MAC conference that competes within the UCHC. They will compete at the off-campus rink at Body Zone and will look to expand on the partnership they've been building with the Reading Royals of ECHL and possibly host games at the Royals' home Santander Arena. Alvernia has a men's ACHA DII club team.
Alvernia has a women's NCAA DIII team that debuted last season, going 4-21. The Reading Royals invited the squad to play a game at the ECHL club's Pink the Rink event where Alvernia hosted Manhattanville at the Santander Arena in the afternoon with the Royals playing that evening.
