The tournament starts today, any thoughts/ predictions? Looking at the list of teams, it appears to be a recruiter's dream come true.

This is pretty much the tournament of the year. First time since 2005, I won't be there. All 20 PWHL teams and 20 other teams, many strong squads from all over, including several of the final eight squads from the NAHA showcase. I think this is the first year Assabet is attending.

On the PW side look for the usual strong horses, Aeros, Bluewater, Sens. Burlington apparently have a strong squad this year. From Quebec look for Limoilou to do well. Most of you are familiar with some of the US teams to watch, like LC, Honeybaked, Mission and Assabet. Too bad NAHA and SSM are not there. Very hard to handicap, but I'm putting my money on the Aeros vs LC in the final.

Not being very familiar with the tourney, I'm surprised at the young ages of some of the competitors . Buffalo has 9 96's, Ridley College has a couple of 97's, Stoney Creek has a young squad attending. (Although I see Buffalo wins 2-1 in their first game.....) Any, best to all the competitors!

Most teams in this tourney do not carry any players that age. The PW teams are stocked with mostly 94's and 95's and the CEGEP teams are stocked with 92's,93's and 94's. Stoney MAA and Ridley tend to be the exception, both are Midget squads. Note that Stoney has both its IAA and MAA squad in the tourney.

Assabet beat both Missy and Burlington (Two final four PW teams from last year) to get there. LC lost to the Sens in the elimination round. Mission did not fare well, Honeybaked and Washington are in the quarters in the B division. Pittsburgh did well with a tough draw, but then got eliminated in the round of 16 by Bluewater.

Toronto vs Bluewater in the A final.
Aurora vs Washington Pride in B final.
Ohio vs Chicago in C final.

Interesting Notes:
Pittsburgh, Assabet and LC only US teams to advance to A round. Pitt and Assabet both eliminated by Bluewater, Pitt by score of 2-1 and Assabet lost 4-1. LC lost to OttaWa (NOT A NAHA Finalist -- see below!) who then lost to Bluewater as well (1-0 in OT). Pittsburgh only lost to Aeros 2-1 as well.

Overall competition level seems to be very good for PWHL and the USA-Canada Cup which LC and Pittsburgh are participating in all 3 events.

Once again another great tournament put on my Stoney Creek (ie Glenn Boles).

The Int Ottawa team at Stoney this weekend WAS NOT a finalist at NAHA. It was the Midget Ottawa Sens that where a finalist at NAHA. They actually won the NAHA U16 division winning against the U16 LC team in the final. The Int Ottawa Sens (eq U19) ended up in the consolation rounds in the NAHA showcase after losing out in a tie breaker to miss the quarters.

You are correct!

Looks like Chicago beat Ohio in OT in the C Finals and Aurora beat Washington Pride in the B Finals in OT....must have been some exciting hockey!

Thanks to the folks at Stoney Creek for keeping the website updated so quickly!

Yup...Kudo's to both Stoney (Glenn) and NAHA (Bill and Co) for keeping the online stats uptodate. It's a thankless behind the scenes task, and with all the stuff that happens at tourneys, not always as easy to keep up with at it seems to the uninitiated.

Toronto over Bluewater 1-0 in the A championships must've been a great game!

Hard to believe, but this is the first time ever that the Aeros win this event. Finalist Bluewater won it twice in the past. looks like most of the regular top PW teams are forces to be reckoned with again this year. Sens, Bluewater and Aeros in the final four, Missy ousted by the Aeros in the quarters and Stoney ousted by Missy. Couple of other PW teams to look out for are Whitby and Burlington.
