The SOG were padded a bit. I believe 49-20 was a more accurate tally.

They also don't tell the story of the game. Yale was certainly the better team and controlled play for all of the 2nd, the last part of third, and all of overtime, but it wasn't close to domination as the SOG would indicate.

Congrats on the win and we look forward to getting another crack at you guys in Albany.

As someone covering the game from the press box, it was utter and complete domination from the start of the second. Mike Schafer admitted as much after the game, as did Patrick Kennedy. Cornell had a grand total of 8 shots after the first to Yale's 41. Also, nearly all of Yale's shots were legitimate chances, while Cornell was kept mostly to the perimeter after the first. The Yale forecheck was so good, Cornell could barely even get it out of the zone. Scrivens is the only reason the score did not indicate the domination. He actually gave his team a chance to win this, which would have been absolute highway robbery if it happened. If there was ever a game where the shot total tells the story, it is this one. Cornell even saluted Yale as they left the ice. I've never seen that before in a regular season game.

And you didn't see it here. Clearly you have never been to a game at Lynah before. The beating of the sticks on the ice until the visiting team leaves always precedes and is part of the salute to the fans.

Actually I have been to plenty of games at Lynah, including four Cornell losses, the first three being to Quinnipiac. That included a playoff sweep a few years ago. And that did not happen any of the previous times. I would surely remember that. Sure, they may always beat their sticks on the ice first before raising them to the crowd. But they don't all face the visiting team as they leave. This time it was pronounced and drawn out. A true sign of respect.

did you make it all the way from Florida to see it? Or you just assume? Because Cornell wouldn't do that? I saw with my eyes. It was obvious what was happening and Kennedy confirmed it. You got dominated. You haven't been the best for 2 straight years now. Deal with it.

Easy, kid. He wasn't talking about Cornell's performance in the game at all...so you're coming off as a bit of a d-bag here. He was responding to what you said about Cornell saluting Yale after the game, which you were wrong about, as any Cornell fan can tell you.

You misinterpreted Cornell saluting their fans. The team always faces their opponents to make sure they see the last visiting player leave the ice before they raise their sticks. You're wrong...get over it.

In the 21st century even those in Florida can see the action through the miracle of television!

You may have seen it, but you don't have the experience to interpret it properly. Perhaps if you are going to be a USCHO arena reporter you need to accept constructive criticism rather than irrationally lashing out at those who disagree with your conclusions.

I certainly admit that Yale has had the Red's number for the last two years. I've dealt with lots of Cornell defeats over the past 40 years. It's still not fun when you get beat, but I remain a Big Red Fan -- still crazy after all these years.

Re the stick salute - I'm not convinced about the tapping of the sticks while facing the exiting visitors is only to be sure they're off the ice. It's too uniform and looks intentional. I have no inside information, maybe someone else does, but I think they are indeed saluting and respecting the visiting team.

One way or the other, Yale deserves it. As does Brown the previous night.
