2026 Elections: To the Midterms and Beyond!

The next filing deadline isn't until September 30 but I have gotten requests for money from Amy Klobuchar, Jon Ossoff, Sherrod Brown and the DSCC itself so far this morning. Is there something happening this weekend that I somehow haven't heard about? I do credit Hannah and Troy though. Neither has hit me up for cash (yet)

Mamdani hit me up twice in the last week, along with Ossoff.

My personal slush fund is tapped out at the moment.

Mike Rogers has started in with "no men in women's sports." Between this and Sharia Law, they've got nothing.

I also wager if you ask Mike Rogers to name 5 prominent woman athletes, he couldn't name one.

Riley Gaines, Sophie Cunningham....um....does Bruce Jenner count?

“Abdul thinks football is bad.”

What an ad. Maximum pandering. Him, the Adrian College grad, in his UM quarter zip (running against someone who went to UM). His wife, making sure they don’t offend the other half of the state, wearing an MSU shirt.

A few updates on the drama in Alaska’s Governor race:

First off, Democrat Tom Begich, who finished second overall behind fellow Democrat Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins, has officially dropped out and endorsed JKT. Basically said “we believe in the same stuff, he finished ahead, let’s not waste resources and win this”.

Meanwhile, fourth place finisher, and second place Republican, former shitshow Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson is refusing to drop out. That’s angered batshit crazy candidate Bernadette Wilson and some Republicans. I’m guessing the various donors can’t agree on who should go forward. Wilson has talked strongly about slashing the state budget even more which probably doesn’t sit well with the construction contractors that largely fund Bronson.

With Begich dropping out that would push fifth place finisher Republican Treg Taylor onto the final ballot… except Taylor is being disqualified for violating campaign finance laws. It remains to be seen whether his running mate and Lt. Governor candidate would move on alone or if the entire ticket would be out.

So, more drama to come!

What's the voter make up like in AK?

Is a D win in play with a split R vote? (which I assume would happen with the party bickering like they are)

Mostly registered Non-Partisan and Independent though Republicans out number Democrats.

I would be cautiously optimistic about the chances for both Governor and Senate races. Things are definitely lining up for the Dems in both races and both Peltola and JKT seem to have broad appeal.

JKT has run a good campaign so far and has really come out of nowhere. His campaign really did the footwork with hitting every festival and gathering this summer building name recognition and awareness.
