I won't be a Placid season for Cornell this year.Has this been a placid season or am I just checked out here in AZ?
Right but neutral is just no effect and it can be better or worse. Depends on the Atlantic. It usually does. IIRC, in an El Nino year, the jetstream rips the tops off the depression thunderstorms before they can organize. So El Nino usually means fewer hurricanes, especially majors.
Very placid. Only up to G and we're getting into late Sept. Katrina hit New Orleans on Aug 29, so that's 11 storms in ~90 days (June 1 - Aug 29), for one storm every 8.1 days. This year, with G on Sept 18 (7 storms in 110 days), that's only one storm every 15.7 days.Has this been a placid season or am I just checked out here in AZ?
