2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season: Non-Minnesotans arguing about the weather

Yikes

Jamaica is utterly fucked. 30-40” of *additional* rain forecast.

And it’s on the hilly side of Jamaica.

My god.

Its moving at 3 mph, expected winds of 160 mph.

That's bad, right? It just dumps on you for hours?

We need giant fans to move it through faster.

US National Hurricane Center live feed. They are using extreme terms. It's either dire or thirst trap to somehow steal money; we can't know anymore with The Junta.

He sounds like an asshole TBH:

"I agreed to be the acting administrator through hurricane season when others wouldn't. Hurricane season ends on 1 December. Since the danger has largely passed, I can now leave for other opportunities," Richardson said. "Many were asked. One raised his hand and said, 'I'll do it.' I knew hurricane season was three weeks away and time was of the essence. I didn't hesitate. It was the same in the 2006 during the worst days of Iraq and the streets of Ramadi. Nobody wanted to train and fight alongside the Iraqis. I said, 'I'll do it.'"

Looks like when all the dust settled Melissa was tied for the second-strongest hurricane ever recorded. Allen in 1980 was stronger.

Of the ten strongest hurricanes ever recorded, with detailed records going back to the 1890s and inferred records going back to the 18th century, 7 have been since 1998. That's ok, right?
