2022-23 DIII Pre-season Predictions

With today the first day of practice for all conferences other than the NESCAC, let's do some preseason prognosticating.

My picks:

CCC: Endicott - I think it comes down to them and Suffolk again.
MIAC: Hamline - Very close between GAC and Hamline in the MIAC final.
NCHA: Adrian - Last season's upset was an anomaly
NEHC: Norwich - Norwich gets their win back from Elmira.
NESCAC: Middlebury - Can they be defeated? Maybe a couple of losses in the regular season. I think they go over Williams in the final.
NEWHL: Plattsburgh - Cortland and Oswego look as dangerous as they ever have on paper. Oswego has transfers from both D1 and Augsburg's leading scorer from last season. But Plattsburgh wins a close conference final.
UCHC: Nazareth - Heads and shoulders above the rest of the conference since Elmira left.
WIAC: Eau Claire over River Falls in OT for their tourney, but River Falls benefits in the rankings from their trip out east this season and finishes ahead.

The tournament expands to 11 teams, with three first-round games. The third-place game has been eliminated, and a published bracket shows the championship will be at 2 PM ET on March 19, 2023

My Pool Cs:

River Falls
Eau Claire
Oswego
Elmira

I think the men's WIAC might as the number of teams is supposedly going from seven to six.

The women's WIAC still has five teams...

Ahh I see, thank you! Did you hear the third place game is going away and the tourney is moving to 11 teams or is that part of your predictions?

Preseason coaches polls (some conferences also give ballots to their SIDs) except for the NESCAC and MIAC. Of the conferences to publish the number of first-place votes, only the NCHA had more than two schools receiving first-place votes with four of nine teams receiving votes. For the NEWHL this is the first time a team other than Plattsburgh received more than one first-place vote in the short history of the conference. For the NEHC, I think this is the first time a team other than Norwich has been selected to finish first. There is no poll archive and the website will make tracking that cumbersome...
