2021 NCAA Tournament

This will be the 18th NCAA tournament with a 16 team field.

The winner has come from the Midwest Region 5 times, from the Northeast Region 5 times, from the West Region 4 times, and from the East Region 3 times.

In the first 17 tournaments, two seeds have been the dominant ones in the field - the Midwest #1 and the Northeast #1 have each won 4 tournaments. The other nine winners have come from nine different seed locations with one each (West #1, #2 #3, #4, East #1, #3, #4, Midwest #3, and Northeast #2).

Three of the past 4 tournaments have been won by the Midwest #1 seed ('16 North Dakota, '17 Denver, and '19 UMD).
