2014-15 Hamilton Thread

Is there a direction for Hamilton Hockey? Things don’t look so hot. The last of Bazin’s recruits have graduated. 3 awful seasons with unexpected and perhaps unprecedented turnover: 4 out of 6 recruits cut after 2011-12 (each cut player played 11-23 games), 1 out of 6 cut 2012-13 (8th leading scorer), and 2 sophmores cut after 2013-14 plus several players opting to graduate early or not return.

Numerous players suspended last year for a variety of issues. Coaching staff demanding patty-cake hockey. So to take leadership in a new direction, 5 Captains next year. FIVE ---- Really. And that doesn’t even count a goalie. Reminds me of all the kids on my baseball team receiving a “participation” trophy.

So 2014-15 begins the norvegicus era. Divided team, divided leadership, pink hockey. Its just a matter of time till the ice completely melts on this show. Someone please step in and save this. Only 4 months till pink bunny practices.

They have a pretty good goalie in Evan Buitenhuis coming in so that might be something they can build on. He helped the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots win the OJHL Playoff Title as well as the Dudley Hewitt cup and they also participated in the Royal Bank Cup.

Early Line-up Prognostication:

G: Buitenhuis, Arnold, Fennel, Nowicki

D: Lamberti / Breihl, Smelstor / Carkeek, Hambrook / Lovejoy, Morin / Barrish

F: Murden / Matheson / D'Armour, Curtis / Bruneteau / Landowski, O'Neill / Vasquez / Willet, Tetro / Rausch / Conway, Sen / Daigler / Vassos / Ferrell
