2012 WCHA Championship: UM vs. UMD

I'll say it if you won't
Thought I'd start a new thread rather than having half a dozen floating around all talking about the same game.

This should be another great WCHA matchup. Goaltending will be the key again today as well as special teams. The Bulldogs MUST stay out of the penalty box, but otherwise play like they did yesterday to grab the trophy and more importantly the autobid to the NCAAs. If they can smother the Gophers offense like they did with the Badgers yesterday, control the neutral zone and put an outrageous amount of pressure on Raty, they could do it.

As far as the rodents go, is this the end of the seven-year drought? Every season they seem to have the tools, but they come up short in the post-season. It happens to every team. I'm secretly hoping the drought ends next year, but who knows? :D

Re: 2012 WCHA Championship: UM vs. UMD

peppering noora with shots and staying out of the box is key, noora is solid but she is human, shutting down kessel and shoeless would be big too ND while getting pounded by the UM second line obviously had the rodent top line frustrated last night. should be an interesting game.

Re: 2012 WCHA Championship: UM vs. UMD

Gophers win 2-0 with a last second empty net goal from Megan Bozek.

They definitely got the tournament MVP right IMO. Wasn't thrilled with the Gopher 3rd period but UMD played their hearts out and Noora preserved the win. Got some help with teammates sacrificing the body in their D zone...but six periods of shutout hockey against these two opponents is pretty spectacular.

Thanks. I was rooting for the Gophs. Good luck at the big dance!!!!
