This looks like a pretty deep and experienced group.

Am I wrong or does Boston College have 6 guys on this list. ***??!!

That is correct and astounding. Kreider is the only lock to make the team. Whitney and Hayes are longshots, as are Wey and Samuelsson. I could see Dumoulin making it with a solid first half.

Denver has 4 players on the list with Jason Zucker, Beau Bennett, Drew Shore and Nick Shore. Zucker was on the team last year and was the youngest player.

Re: 2011 USA World Junior Evaulation Camp Roster

Dumoulin has a very good shot. Brickley will mkae it, will be a role player who runs around and hits everything. A role he did very wellin intl event in April and they loved it.

Either Coyle or Hayes has a shot but in reality, Whitney is more of an impact, glad to see him mentioned.

I could see either of Bennett or Drew making the team, but not both, and maybe next year for Nick.

Agreed. I envision Brickley on a checking line with guys like Budish, Saad and Nelson.
Should be a numbers game for Dumoulin. Fowler (my guess is he doesn't make and NHL team out of camp), Ramage, Merrill and Forbort are locks to make the squad. That would leave three spots for Tinordi, Faulk, Johns, Leddy, Dumoulin, Clendening et all.

Dumoulin would make it over Clendening. Leddy would make it over both of them in my opinion.

Wrenn missed the last 14 games of the year with a hip injury which could be the reason he is missing. Hopefully he will be back at full speed for the season.

Re: 2011 USA World Junior Evaulation Camp Roster

The word on the street is a ton of pressure by US Natl dev program to load camp with their kids and help save face for the program and the horrible couple years of off ice issues they have had.

Johansonn has a list of about 15 other players he is going to be watching very closely and they will be inviting more kids in for another camp at the end, after watching NCAA for a little while.

Krug out of Mich State is far superior to Clendenning but they will take care of dev program for now. Look for 4-5 late add ons out of non invited kids. The first 2 months and some of the upcoming NHL dev camps could swing things. This by no means is the list the team will come off of.

Mac Bennett is another player far superior to half the 92 Dmen on this list.

"Word on the street" comes across as code for "unnamed sources who agree with me."

USA Hockey has for years gone heavily for NTDP grads--whether college bound or MJ--in the summer evaluation camp. Hardly anything new. And they always have a list of non-invitees they'll watch. Inevitably there is someone who surprises the experts in the fall.

USA Hockey has no need to save face for off-ice incidents. Sh*t happens on all levels of hockey and all sports. Just read the newspapers. USA Hockey is coming off a season of great achievements with a WJC championship, a repeat World U18 championship and a gold medal in the World U17 Hockey Challenge. I've probably omitted others. Those successes are remembered long after some immature and disgusting actions by individuals are forgotten.

Re: 2011 USA World Junior Evaulation Camp Roster

That is true but the natl program sure has run its course. The number of kids getting thrown out and the stuff going on never reported is beyond a cause for alarm. Total waste of money and the sad thing is that the kids that fund it get zero say. The ones who do in a million years would never eliminate because they would lose their jobs, over 60% of the 7 figure budget goes to their related expenses and salaries. Its a farce program.

To think that almost every D off the 92 team is getting a spot, mainly because of their political ties is a joke, a 100% farce.

Clendenning
Faulk
Forbert
Johns
Merrill
Tinordi

6 of the D are 92's, all from the dev team.

There are not 91's out there who are better?

Torey Krug for example couldnt get a look? What does he have to do, marry one of the us dev program coaches daughters?

Krug
Won 6 Michigan state championships
won natl championships playing up with Detroit Honeybake
won a natl championship at his own age with Bell Tire
Won a Clark Cup with Indiana Ice in the USHL
With Indiana as a 17 year old, a league with a ton of 19 and 20 year olds he led Indiana's D with 47 points and was 4th on team in scoring. First and only year in league. In playoffs had 7 points and led team with a + 11.
Broke the all time record for Indiana for points by a dman.

After Indiana, went to Mich State as a true 18 year old freshmen, didnt turn 19 until after season was over.
Krug was named to the CCHA all rookie team, leading all rookie dmen in scoring and 5th among all dmen in CCHA. Natl rookie of the month as well. The other rookie on the team of course is now 21.

Great kid off the ice and graduated with over a 4.0 GPA per Mich State website

Cant bring him into the camp, he didnt deserve it.

Have to bring in Merrill who had 9 points and was suspended or Tinordi who had 9 points or Faulk who had 12 and Johns who had 8.
All in the same league Krug dominated in at the exact same age. Amazing how he had more points in the same league as these 4 combined but cant get the honor of an invite. Even Clendenning and Forbert, who are not as good by any stretch didnt have as many points combined.

Its all political bs run by political clowns who are looking out for their paychecks and not USA hockey.

These invitations are not earned, they are simply the natl guys validating their existance.

Well put hokydad. Well put.

We've seen it before and we'll continue to see it. Then again, politics are everywhere in sports now so I guess it all works out...?

Re: 2011 USA World Junior Evaulation Camp Roster

What will happen first?

USA Hockey will drop the National Development Program

OR

Every hockey playing nation will copy the USA Program

Re: 2011 USA World Junior Evaulation Camp Roster

Nothing against the kids who are going, outside those who had off ice issues and shouldnt receive the honor.

If it is perceived as an honor, which it is. If it is supposed to be earned and a reward for being a great player, who worked hard and is on of the supposed elite, it should be just that.

Not a big announcement with little scouting and not bringing in the best players.

Re: 2011 USA World Junior Evaulation Camp Roster

While I generally agree with the sentiments on the ntdp, USA hockey definitely made a move in the right direction with adding a December camp for this tournament. Last year, four kids who did not make the summer camp made the team (Walker, Lashoff, Zucker, Ramage) and a number of other guys made the December camp (Faulk, Merrill, Nicastro, Brown, Wohlberg) but didn't make it to Saskatoon. If guys like Krug, Grimaldi or Yogan have strong beginnings to their seasons, they could get the call in December.

The other countries, like Canada simply spread the money out to the top junior rpograms. Many more touches, much wider development. Why are dev program kids ok to go to college but a kid playing for London Knights cant?
