2010 Superior ShowCASE: tUMD, MTU, NMU, and LSSU

The final chapter of the Superior Showcase (not Showdown, and not Cup, SHOWCASE) sees the WCHA schools travelling to the CCHA schools.
Friday, 10/8: tUMD at LSSU, Tech at NMU
Saturday, 10/9: Tech at LSSU, tUMD at NMU

Last year, all 4 teams went 1-1.

What will happen in the final chapter? Discuss!

Anyone know why this is the last year.

I thought Tech liked getting the opportunity to play Lake State at least once a year. Less travel and build the local rivalries.

Was it mutual or did one of the teams bring about the end.

Tech needs the sweep this weekend to get it going on a positive note.

IIRC, UMD wanted out.

This would be a neat thing to do every few years, but I don't like losing a weekend every year to it when we could bring in other OOC opponents.

UMD and LSSU both wanted out, I believe. Being at the opposite ends of the lake, it was just another long bus trip. Plus, Duluth's been a pretty good team the last couple of years and will have a brand new building in January, so they probably figure that they can do better in terms of OOC scheduling.
