2010 NCHAMIACMCHA Pick'em - Finals Week 1

Please CLEARLY identify your picks (i.e. highlight the team you pick to win, or predict a score (no extra points given though), or use Team A @ Team B – Winning Team). Highlighting preferred.

Rules are simple – pick the winning team for each match up, 2 points should your team win, 1 point for a tie (of course if you predict a tie and a tie occurs, you get 2 points).

All picks must be posted by the start of the first game on each given night - any posts/EDITS after the EARLIEST game start will VOID all picks for that night.

Norm -
Why are we going into the playoffs? The Pick'em has never gone into the post-season...

I was operating under the assumption that last week was the end since the regular season is now over for the MIAC, MCHA, and NCHA. Also, we did not pick the NCHA playoff games last week. Is this a separate playoff pickem you decided to run?

Unfortunately, the late posting of the selections and a fear that waiting might have resulted in work commitments preventing me from getting the list posted in time, meant I had to leave last weeks NCHA playoffs out.

As for a "separate playoff", as they say, in post-season, your season starts all over again. That is why I noted it as "Finals Week 1" versus "Week 16".

So are last week's results (when they get calculated) the final results, and then these next few weeks are a separate competition? Or will the competition be named after the "Finals"? :confused:

I'm thinking 3 tiers:

League Champion - Highest Regular Season total (i.e. through last week)

Post Season Champion - Highest Postseason total (i.e. now through the National Championship)

Grand Champion (Composite Regular & Post Season)

Any thoughts/ideas?

Well, the League Champion is officially SNCHockey. For second place, after a 1-game slip-up by the previous week's Cards_rule_the_Burgh (myself) and a week-topping performance by Wormser-PointRC, we have a tie for runner-up.

Thanks for all of your efforts, I know last summer that the fall was going to be very busy for me, but I thought it would calm down after Thanksgiving. It hasn't.

I was hoping the top 5 regular season leaders would be close enough to allow for a composite winner, looks like the top 10 might have a run at it - Cool :cool:

Sounds like fun...however, after 4 seasons atop the NCHAMIACMCHA Pick'em this girl's choosing to sit out from this round. In fact, I'm pulling a "Brett Favre" and announcing retirement from the Pick'em, but like Brett, I may end up flip-flopping over the summer. :) Enjoy this post-season pick'em!

SNCHockey, it's been a great run. I'm pretty sure I've consistently trailed you by a handful of points all season. I was hopeful that I'd be able to catch up, and actually had you tied at one point (albeit a mid-week calculation, on a friday night). But in the end, my guesswork was no match for you skills in the prognostication of Western games. :cool: I hope to see you back in this competition next year!

This early retirement puts Wormser and myself in first place for the grand championship. :eek:

I think part of my (almost) success in this Pick'Em is my lack of that issue. I have a team in each of the Eastern Pick'Ems that I support, and my picks are slightly biased based on that. I have no western team that I particularly support.

I have historically done very poorly in this pick'em. Not exactly sure why I'm doing so well this year honestly?? Maybe something to do with squirrels and nuts...

I will say that this is the first time all year that I've took Point as a pure 'homer pick' though.
