It's here again!

First game of the tournament a good one so far. Connecticut up 3-1 over Washington in the 5th after a two run double.

Geez, who's the loser Morneau fan? :D

They'll be back. It is the only thing this town is any good at on a consistent basis. Baseball.

Football? Awful.
Hockey? Worse.
Basketball? Don't know what that is.

CR was pretty good in hoops one year back in the early '80s.....but not good enough. :p

Re: 2010 Little League World Series

Our town's jerkwater neighbor, Brunswick, MD, got to the Mid-Atlantic regional this year before falling. I think the team has a pool of about 40 kids to draw from.

Re: 2010 Little League World Series

They were good at football then too, winning a state title in 1983.
My high school's football team was good until I was a senior. I think we went to state my first 3 years of high school, then we were ok my senior year, since then I think they've won a total of about 7 games.

I don't think our baseball team has ever been good...

Your hockey team is a lot better though.

This Plymouth/No Hope team blows. I bet they don't even spit into their hands for the handshake lines. Which, of course, means they don't want it enough.

Its class A, and usually very competitive in that. It wasn't that long ago where we were class A and beating class AA teams, but that was mostly due to one family. :p

I remember being good at bouncyball too, I think we got bounced in the state semis or championship game by MPLS Henry 3 years in a row. :p

Re: 2010 Little League World Series

Texas holds off Minnesota to win 10-8.

Texas started the game up 8-0, but gave up a grand slam in the bottom of the 6th to make it 10-8 with two outs. The next batter walked, but the batter after that stuck out to end the game.

Round-robin pool play is gone this year, they've gone to a College World Series type format with a double elimination pool. Each team is still guaranteed three games though, but once you've lost two, you are eliminated from moving on. So, it will be Minnesota-Washington in the elimination game for Pool B.

Up next is Puerto Rico-Germany in Pool C. This is the same German team from last year, which is really Americans from an army base. Errors will be aplenty if they've kept their traits from last year.

Japan with a 6th inning rally last night against Mexico. With two outs they scored four runs to take the game 4-2.

Ohio vs New Jersey on now on ESPN. Ohio with an explosive first inning, including a home run that probably went 300ft. 8-0 Ohio going into the bottom of the 1st.

Re: 2010 Little League World Series

Ohio finished off New Jersey 16-6.

Canada gets out of a bases loaded, one out situation in the bottom of the 6th to beat Panama 4-2.

NJ has enough hitting to compete but just does not have that overpowering pitching the other teams seem to have. With the pitch number rules, you must have 2 or even 3 kids who can throw 70mph and get a curve ball over the plate.

Re: 2010 Little League World Series

Ohio can really hit, but might not have enough pitching depth. One of the stars on the Ohio team played hockey here in Oxford. My guess is he will focus on baseball in the future, unfortunately.
