Re: '09 NAHA Labor Day Tournament POLL

What happened to the option "other" ?

While NAHA is on paper the odds on favorite, other teams not in the poll to consider are B-Water and Minnesota. The best team out of Ontario at this event is B-Water. Watch for them. Quality goaltending and a good 1-2 scoring punch up front.

I would agree with you especially regarding B-Water. I have been watching and they do have some good talent on this team. They will be one to keep an eye on.

Re: '09 NAHA Labor Day Tournament POLL

Also, don't forget Waterloo Rangers. Some strong players there.:)

No disrespect to the Rangers, but two of the other Ontario based teams at the NAHA event are at least on paper more potent. B-Water carries several players from the TC U18 camp, and they had a slew of players at the recent Ontario U18 camp. Durham often shows up with extra players at this event. Durham has done well in this event in the past. Expect them to be solid again this time around.

The rosters are now up on the NAHA web site.

Re: '09 NAHA Labor Day Tournament POLL

Maybe it's just me but those white links against a light blue background are really hard to see!

Are the U19 Spitfire really in this tournament with 11 players?

Re: '09 NAHA Labor Day Tournament POLL

No. This roster is completely garbled. It looks like a mishmash of U16 and U19 along with players no longer playing (Kristen Eklund, already heading to Quinnipiac). I am not certain of the final U19 roster but it will be completely different.

Sorry about the LC mistake yesterday. They won convincingly over Dawson to take their pool. Dawson second.

Bluewater wins their pool over the MN Whitecaps.

Assabet wins their pool, Spitfires come back to take second by winning 4-1 over LA.

Mn Ice cats win their pool convincingly, Polar Bears get second.

Quarter lineups:

Mn Ice Cats vs Dawson
Assabet vs Mn W Caps
Bluewater vs Mass Spitfires
Little Caesars vs Polar Bears.

My money is on wins by Bluewater, LC, Ice Cats and White Caps. Not sure who plays on in the next round, but a Bluewater - LC final would be my prediction, with LC winning.

So much for the voters. Leading team in the Poll did not even make it to the quarters.

Yea, but they beat LC tonight 2-0;)

One thing for sure, NAHA doesn't set up their tournament to make it easy on themselves. They let the chips fall where they may and place themselves in a position to have competitive games all the way through. Good luck to the teams moving on.

Caesars over the Polar Bears 2-1

Caesars and Assabet in the Semi's at 9:00am tomorrow. Good luck to all teams tomorrow.

Re: '09 NAHA Labor Day Tournament POLL

Assabet beat MN JR Whitecaps Silver 1-0 - little controversial as a tieing goal that went in was waived off on the Whitecaps - goal signaled (puck went over line in goalie glove and official out at the Blue line over ruled?). What is the old saying when on the road you have to make your own breaks you aren't going to get any calls.

Assabet was the best team that the JWC Silver played in the tournament though Bluewater was the fastest and best team on transitional game. Clear to see Assabet girls have played together and are very well coached I loved thier coaching - but their coaches whistling for line changes was really odd/distracting and the MN players kept thinking the officials were blowing whistle. The Assabet team were doing 20-30 second shifts which really kept them fresh and effective the whole game. Assabet will play the MN Ice Cats this morning in the Semi Final - should be a great game.

Great tournament and NAHA imporved the level of competitiveness over a year ago. Being from MN I am amazed at the turnout of D1 and D3 coaches scouting the event - appears to be every program had people there.
