I am glad we don't have powerhouse Union on our schedule and I have plenty of ticker tape on hand in the event it will be needed. :D :p

The Air Force series was a nice statement especially given that it was the first series of the season.

The verdict is still out on 1) goalie situation and 2) On offense, BSU needs a couple players to step up and fill the void that was created with last years departing players and to also take pressure off of Matt read.

On defense BSU looks fairly solid.

Re: 09-10 Bemidji State Beaver Hockey

BSU off to a great start this year.

After last weekend, Serratore could be put in a difficult position regarding what goalie he's going to go with this weekend against Alabama!

I don't think Bakala played bad at all Saturday against the Gophers, was just put in very bad situations by his team.

On the other hand- Dugas looked very good on Sunday, but had the entire team in front of him playing great.

Re: 09-10 Bemidji State Beaver Hockey

I truely believe this is one of the best Beaver teams if not thee best Beaver team I have ever seen. ( I have been watching since the early 90's)

They are the most balanced team line wise I have seen which I think makes them better than last year. I still think Dalton was a little better in net but as these kids get more ice time they will continue to get better as the season progresses.

Matt Read is a very special player and I dont think we will have the pleasure of watching him next year. He seems to get better and really takes it up a notch on the big stage. The rest of the team seems to feed off of him as well.

Jordan George is the next big player to lead this team when Read is done playing D1 hockey, and Mckelvie doesnt get near enough cred as he is playing as a behind the scenes role player.

I want to see many more full games of the physicalness we saw that first weekend against Air Force and the U of M Saturday night, and really look forward to watching in Grand Forks next weekend.

We played a pretty good Northern Michigan team tough at their barn this year, who only lost to Miami by 1 goal both games this year. Anyone else excited about the rematch?

Re: 09-10 Bemidji State Beaver Hockey

Beavs looked really good in the 1st and 3rd last night. Nice to see them chase Talbot. Hope they win again tonight and start preparing for Miami OH

Should be a fun rematch, both teams look better this season.

I was at both games there - NMU was playing sloppy hockey, but Bemidji was very disciplined. Even though NMU seemed to have a bit more speed and size, you guys were able to frustrate their breakaway attempts. I was impressed by your progress, having seen Bemidji in person last year and having no idea how you got to the Frozen Four, honestly. This year... I see it.

Re: 09-10 Bemidji State Beaver Hockey

Doesn't look like the Fighting Sioux Network will webcast the Bemidji games this weekend from the Ralph. Too bad, I am sure they could have gotten some $$$ out of Bemidji, Miami and Ohio State fans that can't make the trip.

Re: 09-10 Bemidji State Beaver Hockey

On the BSU front, they NEED to take less penalties than they did this weekend against UAH. BSU can beat UAH while taking 10 penalties, but that will not fly against Miami and Ohio State.

Re: 09-10 Bemidji State Beaver Hockey

With their sweep of UAH, BSU has moved up from #9 to #7 in the INCH Power Rankings. The USCHO and USA Today polls will come out later today.

*Team's RPI has been adjusted to remove negative effect from defeating weak opponent.

The PairWiseSM Ranking is a system which attempts to mimic the method used by the NCAA Selection Committee to determine participants for the NCAA Division I men's hockey tournament. The PWR compares the top 25 teams in the RPI Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), judging them by four criteria: record against common opponents, head-to-head competition, record against other top 25 teams if the team has faced at least 10 top 25 opponents, and the RPI.

GOTTA LOVE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 09-10 Bemidji State Beaver Hockey

BSU is ranked #1 in both the RPI and PWR rankings.

BSU has also moved up from #8 to #6 in the USCHO poll, and with that, they received two first place votes!

KEEP THE FOOT ON THE GAS, BOYS!!!!

It's great to see that BSU keeps inching up. It will be a fun weekend in Grand Forks!

That being said, it's only November, and they have some good challenges ahead (Mankato, Duluth, Niagara, Omaha). Hopefully, they'll stay healthy, keep their head their head down and keep on truckin'.

Re: 09-10 Bemidji State Beaver Hockey

The wins over Northern Michigan and Minnesota will be key in the pairwise ranking at the end of the year. Both will most likely be TUCs if not in the top 16. Two wins this weekend will certainly make things a lot more pleasant in the PWR.

Re: 09-10 Bemidji State Beaver Hockey

New recruit for the Beavers. From the Bemidji Pioneer:
MARQUETTE, Mich. - Forward Garrett Ladd of the North American Hockey League's Marquette Rangers has become the first player from this year's squad to make a commitment to play college hockey next season. Ladd will skate next year for the Bemidji State Beavers of head coach Tom Serratore.

"I am excited about the chance the coaching staff at Bemidji is giving me," said Ladd after making his decision. "Like all of us who play Juniors, it has been a lifelong dream of mine and my family to play DI hockey; and I am going to make the most of this great opportunity." Bemidji State is in their final season as a member of College Hockey America, the Beavers will join the Western Collegiate Hockey Association starting with the 2010-11 season. The Beavers are currently ranked #6 nationally and sport a 10-1-1 record on the season.

Ladd, a downstate Fenton, Mich., native and team captain, leads the Rangers in scoring this season with 22 points on eight goals and 14 assists in 18 games. Ladd is also ranked in the top 20 in overall scoring among all 19 NAHL teams through this week of action. For his career in Marquette, Ladd has 34 goals and 65 assists for a total of 99 points in just over two full seasons.

Ladd is also the first Michigan native to sign with BSU since the program achieved Division I status 10 years ago.

For all of his scoring numbers, Rangers head coach Kenny Miller says Ladd has also become a true leader in the locker room as well as on the ice.

"Garrett is the type of player that every coach loves to coach," Miller said. "Garrett competes in every way possible both on and off the ice, he is a tireless worker and he deserves this opportunity. As an organization we couldn't be happier for Garrett and his family; his hard work these past three seasons both on and off the ice have really paid off for him. Not only is Bemidji State getting a top recruit as a player they are getting an even better young man."
