I liked Beaverton. It just wasn't "cool." It was the antithesis of cool.

For the record the only city I actually hate is Boston and even there I love the city architecture and layout and the visitors -- I just hate the natives, and on this I have the agreement of every human being in America who wasn't born in Boston.

It didn't when I lived there. You had to drive to Wash Park, go down in that elevator shaft that's deeper than the Metro, and grab the line from there.

I lived in Portland, too. Beaverton was a later move. Vibrant city culture is great until it's going through your trash.

In case you're wondering, Boston's "straight pride" rally was basically a pro-Trump event (with Milo!) with more cops than fascists in attendance. Maybe 150 for "straight pride," but plenty more counter protesters, who overwhelmed the right wingers 20-1.

IMO, very few parts of America are "cool". At the end of the day, America is a lot of strip malls, freeways, and safe, comfortable "meh". The parts that have been deemed "cool", are already full of hanger-on losers and Type A ********s (see: Seattle from about 1993 to present).

Sure, some Bostonians fit the stereotype and are obnoxious. Very few of them post on this board, and AFAIK none of them post in the Cafe. Rover is the closest it comes, and even though he went to BU, I've never been certain he's a true native.

EDIT: LOL, "d1ckweed" is now censored.

I think Hopkins MN is pretty darn cool. They have halfway re-invented themselves, so it's a mix of small town, suburb, and new style. It's a good mix. I have found myself frequenting the main drag quite a bit over the last few years. Yes, there have been more than a few times I've come across someone familiar and we've greeted each other, yet it's up to date on the latest things that major metros have.
Never really developed a taste for tequila. Kind of hard to understand how you make a drink out of something that sharp, inhospitable. Now, bourbon is easy to understand.

In MPLS/etc light rail is the big thing. It's been a years-long battle for the Hopkins station to downtown MPLS. New apts/condos are up there, pricing is through the roof, it's all modern/all the amenities. St Louis Park, Hopkins, even the outskirts of Minnetonka/Plymouth are re-imaging for the younger generations. Massive construction places, etc to cater to them. I don't mind it, actually welcome it (since I'm pretty much set in stone where I am). It's a good thing, adapting to the new, rather than sticking to the old tried and true.

                          Trust me, they're 25 years behind Rochester/Royal Oak/Farmington/Clarkston, MI. Same sh*t.

I agree. Rochester has a Pitt Blue (?), and I was ***?????????????? I tried finding some old landmarks (had family down there) and that city has changed SO much......

I believe you're thinking of Rochester, MN. Rochester, MI has our own ******y places for the local 10% to roll in every weekend (you know what I mean).

Yes I am. Sorry for the confusion.

Edit: Rochester MN was known as a place to retire, not a place for young people. That has changed, somewhat.
